The company still has its manufacturing base here, its design centers here, and its profits are pumped into those factories and design centers, here.
It says right in the release that there isn't going to be profit sharing as part of this agreement, just sharing platforms, drivetrains, and dealerships. Chrysler cannot survive as an independent manufacturer. They'd be the only one in the world, unless you count BMW which has a much larger global footprint than Chrysler does.
