Cryostasis isn't coming out in the US until mid-summer. I have it because I'm a dirty pirate hooker. I don't see why it hasn't gotten more coverage from the media because from what I've played so far (about an hour and a half), it's been freaking awesome. It reminds me of Condemned in a way, with its creepy atmosphere and first-person fighting. So far, the game's setting is on a boat that's frozen in the arctic. The game's health system is based around body heat. You run across heat sources and put your hands in front of them to regain your body heat (your health).

The real gimmick of the game comes in the form of reliving the lives of other people. You're able to change what happens to them by doing this (all the people I've come across have been frozen solid and dead). The first time I was allowed to do this was when I found the body of a man encased in ice. The reason he died was because the ship you're in was being flooded and he didn't make it above the water in time. I relived his life and was able to make it to a higher level in the ship so his body encased in ice disappeared in the present and I was able to get past where the encased ice used to be.

The atmosphere in this game is ridiculous, from the sounds, to people jumping out at you, to the overall freezing cold surroundings. Your screen slowly freezes as you lose body temperature and get away from heat sources. I'm going to try to get some videos and screenshots of what the game actually looks like because it's pretty amazing. Since most of the game seems to be indoors, particle effects and lighting is really used in amazing ways. In my opinion, this is a game to be on the look out for.

It has a tech demo out right now if you want to check out the graphics and how it runs on your rig.

Here's a link to download it at gamershell: http://www.gamershell.com/pc/cryostasis_sleep_of_reason/

If you don't feel like downloading it you can just watch a video of it here:
