Mount & Blade 75% off Steam Sale, sell me on it

Those who have played it, what's it like? Looks like an open world thing like Oblivion with horse combat. Is it worth $7.50?

It's a sandbox game. There's a world map where you ride around to villages and castles. You'll come across brigands or whatever and they'll try to fight you so you go into the battle mode where you run around and kill people and it's awesome and I bought it for $15 and it's amazing and there's a demo so why don't you try that but I really think you should buy it because at $7.50 it's a steal and I've probably spent more time with this game than I have in a long time with a game because you can become a knight for a king and fight for his army and stuff and then go take over villages and pillage them and kill the villagers and then go claim your own villages and build stuff in them like manors and taverns and things like that and there's a lot of different armors and bows/crossbows and horses and stuff so you can really customize your guy and the people you have with you (just the named heroes you can't customize the generic army dudes) and make them awesome oh and there's lots of mods like this one where you have guns which is pretty cool.

Buy it.

If you're looking for a game that tells you what to do and gives you a story then don't buy it. This is a game where you get out of it what you put into it.

If you want to be a cigarillo like that cocksucker demi then you can buy it at Gamestop (it's $5 there if you can find it in stock) and then create a gamersgate.com account to link the game to. If you ever want to reinstall it you can either use the disc or you can download it from gamersgate.com.

I prefer Steam, though.

I'm basically the medieval dick who griefs towns. Every village is pissed at me because all I do is run in and take all their shit and kill their cattle. I haven't taken a village as my own yet because I'm too busy looting all the others. I'm a knight of this cool kingdom that has most of the middle of the world map. I wanna overthrow the kingdom and take it over as my own but I need to build up my reputation with the king and other dudes first. Before I even do that I've been too busy looting villages and buying better weapons and armor.

I remember playing this when it was some sort of tech demo where you rode around in a circle and lanced people from your horse.

It was strangely compelling.

I'll buy for sure.

Yeah the combat in the game is the real deal maker for me. No other game I've played has been able to get the horse combat right like Mount & Blade does. Archery is pretty freakin fun, too. Actually the entire fighting system is pretty interesting. You parry by holding the right-mouse trigger and you can either automatically parry in the direction of the enemy after you press the button or you can manually do it. I'm a lazy cunt so I have it automatically parry.

You can just do scenario battles form the main menu if you just want some quick action. If you're planning on playing it in a short burst that might turn into an hour or two if you get really into it like I do. To be honest I kinda wish I didn't buy Hinterland (even though I got it for $15 during the holiday sale) because I haven't played it since the week I bought it. There's a bit to do besides fighting like trading goods and things like that. It's easier to just go pillage a village and sell all their stuff though. The game is mainly about the fighting though, yes.

The way I see it, it's kinda like the Total War games except you're actually involved with the battles instead of just watching overhead.

Make sure you pick of the mod that allows you to increase the number of units on the field at once.
