Fox committed to shitting on AbFab for dumb US audiences

I had no idea the version that Roseanne was going to make was going to star Carrie Fisher.  Between Roseanne's love of crassness and Carrie Fisher, that could have actually worked.  Still, back when that was going down, Roseanne was way past her prime.

Now that I've heard Carrie Fisher's name attached to this, I can't think of anyone else that would even feel like right casting for Edina.  Who would make a good Patsy?

Anyway, I am sure Fox's abfab will play out like an abortion hitting the floor.  I must make sure I never see this monstrosity.

Too late, AbFab already shit on itself!

The first 3 series are great.  4 is pretty great, and the final 2 are kinda mediocre, but they have their moments.

Remember the US version of Coupling? Neither does anyone else.

I am morbidly curious about the US version of Coupling.  My brother said they did lame shit like having Jane actually be bisexual, instead of just having her claim/pretend to be bisexual to appear more exotic to men.  It's also supposed to be a mostly straight adaptation (think the US Pilot of The Office), and there's a lot of stuff in the first season that would have been pretty controversial for a US comedy series in series 1.

I downloaded a few episodes once because I really liked the BBC version, but then I though "Nah" and just deleted them without watching them.

AbFab was hilarious. They used to give it on Comedy Central (I think?) or it could have been one of the Premium Cable channels

Best show ever, tied with little mosque on the prairies and Degrassi Junior High--the original series.

I think there was a Degrassi elementary in the late 80s, too. But I don't know whether that was a real show, or I dreamed it.

edit:
never mind, it was a real show: "The Kids of Degrassi Street," which ran from 82 and 86

Yeah, there were like 3 OG Degrassi shows, no?  I haven't seen the new one.

I haven't seen the new one, well maybe for five minutes.

As a kid, I remember watching Degrassi Junior High, Degrassi High, and the Degrassi movie. But The Kids of Degrassi Street was a bit before my time, ending its run when I was four.

I saw a good deal of the US Coupling.  While 1 or 2 episodes were almost straight adaptations of the BBC show (with Margaret Thatcher references replaced with George Bush references), I remember liking the ones that were original scripts.  I was surprised that NBC didn't give it more of a chance to catch on....but then being on that network and that time made it feel like the obvious Friends-clone that even the UK version was.
