I've missed most of the history that has forged EB to what it is today, but what made EB what it is today? What is your draw to this site?

Is it the banned purgatory?

Is it the gay subtext?

Is it freedom?

Is it because many of you go way back?

Is it because the icons are awesome?

For me, in the beginning, it was the draw of the "usual suspects" from another site. A place to communicate with those I could not do on another site. Through here, I ironically got access to the other site, but I still spend much more time here. For better or worse.

I started posting here because Ecrofirt thought I'd like it. I do, and I stayed because I like the people. This is really the only proper forum I post at--everything else is either on LiveJournal, or sometimes a Hanson fan forum. I don't go to GAF or OA or anything.

Well, I do post on The Knot, but that's only in the past 6 months or so, and it's all wedding-related.

Those are the primary reasons. Moderation in general is better here. Since there are less people, there are less distinguished mentally-challenged fellows. The flow of information is usually fast enough and rarely too fast (no megathreads to browse through). Only a few legit Ntards and Xbots and probably even fewer legit Sfags.

Only a couple of forums I ever posted on...GAF being one. This place (cant remember how I found out about it) is great...people actually can say what they want without having an internet persona....GAF is so full of that shit. I also prefer the scarcity of subforums. I've been to other forums that have more or less the same amount of people active as EB, but somehow they feel the need to have 127 subforums. Xbox discussion, Playstation discussion, forums for individual games, and there's nobody on the site! (Relatively speaking.) How are people to find each other? No no, give me an OT, give me a gaming forum, and we're good. I don't know that it deserves the credit or not, but that's the part of the GAF model that works.

I came here because Patel told me it was where all the cool kids are, and he was mostly right. There's about the right amount of traffic here, and most people take the time to conduct themselves thoughtfully. Usually we take care to treat each other with reasonable respect.

I found this place when I heard someone mention on GAF about a place where demi, Drinky, MAF, and other GAF "retirees" hang out, did a bit of detective work and ended up here.

Pretty much echoing what others have said:

-Many of GAF's best and former best posters are here
-I prefer the smaller discussion, you don't feel lost in the crowd
-People here usually actually discuss and pick apart games, and rarely dive into sales-age melodrama
-Tends to be a bit more lighthearted and less melodramatic, I've gotten into arguments with people on here from time to time but it's not as bad as GAF
-More open, more free... easier to speak your mind, occasionally make stupid racist/misogynistic jokes without the threat of banz0rz.
