smh - GTA DLC isn't compatible with the main game

To access The Lost & Damned, boot up a copy of GTA IV and start a new game. You can now choose between GTA IV and L&D. Though both take place in Liberty City, the two are separate stories and separate game worlds, meaning you don't gain access to the new interiors in L&D if you're playing GTA IV.

Why bother?

I'd rather get the sexy fallout 3 DLC that I can use in the main game.

it's basically a side story/game in the self contained DLC.  I don't see a big problem here.

I'm thinking that the problem comes from not being able to access the new areas of L&D when you're just playing regular GTA4. I'm going to assume that in L&D you can access all the areas in GTA4 so why not just play that one instead? Aside from being a new character there wouldn't be any other changes.

IIRC the only new areas are a few indoor buildings, which are useless after you complete the mission there, and some new weapons.  There are also tweaks to the actual gameplay like making it harder to fall off a bike.  I still don't think it's really a big deal in the end.  It's like, if you wanted to fuck around, just play the L&D campaign and you'll have the all and new content to do with, just without Niko pussy bitch Belic to play as.

i dont mind the stories being self contained. but if they add new stuff in it should be available all the time, like it will be in fallout.

How is this a big deal?  You're playing as a new character with different missions available so you have to have a different save file.  I can understand requiring the game disk because it's just an expansion pack.

that isn't so much of a problem since they aren't really adding new stuff past the missions.  I guess you can say that you can't be let down since you know they will under deliver.

Why would you play a local biker gang in a different city?

pilonv1, you're confusing me.  This is content that is locked to a different character that you probably never even met in the main game.  It has to have a different save file, doesn't it?

I prefer this format for some expansions if it's a game where I never finished the main game.  It's nice not to be held back because of your progress in the main game.

Then again I hate GTAIV so I'm not getting this regardless.

Bu-bu-bu-but Niko is so COMPELLING a character!  ::) :smh

In all honesty, I'll buy this and enjoy it. I agree with Sho Nuff on the superiority of Saints Row 2's gameplay, but I'm too curious to see if they add any of the old over-the-top flavor back into the storytelling.
