I downloaded the ZZ3 demo and opened the hex editor and see this:
gibberish
BOOTABLE CATEGORY DISC_ID DISC_NUMBER DISC_TOTAL DISC_VERSION PARENTAL_LEVEL PSP_SYSTEM_VER REGION_TITLE
NPJH90030 gibberish 1.01 gibberish 5.02 gibberish

So I changed 5.02 to 3.00 and saved and the game won't boot at all.

How do you hex edit the firmware out?  I want to play this baaaaaad.

If I try to run it on my 3.73 Custom Firmware it says "You must upgrade to 5.02 to play"

I thought on the Prinny demo people just stripped the firmware check out.

Are you using the Team Omega 5.02?  I found a news site that said there is no M33 above 5.00 right now and I dunno which of the other groups to use.

Yeah, I think that is my current plan.  Someone should upload it by tomorrow probably.

I don't have a solution to your problem (yet) but I have to remind you of something regarding your usage of 3.73.

If you continue playing games that requires new firmwares on old CFW (for example I started playing Loco Roco 2 on 3.71) then you upgraded, for some reason, to the latest firmware (either official or custom to play a demo like this one) some save-files will become corrupted.

I learned this the hard way. The solution to this problem also lies in editing save files using hex editor, though I still haven't succeeded in doing so.

Don't know if this is old or not.

Yeah, I just upgraded to 5.00 M33-6 and none of my old save files for any games work.  I tried running the save files through a hex editor but didn't see anyway to fix them.

Demi, what's the word on getting around this?

http://alek.dark-alex.org/pspwiki/index.php/Fatmsmod

I followed the instructions and did the fatmsmod 3.71 patch for 5.00.

I load up any game and try to load my pre-5.00 upgrade save file and it says "load failed; data is broken".

Well I mean since you are the master of the underground, when you updated to 5.00 did all your pre-5.00 saves work?  Because for Jinfash and me they don't.

It's not a huge deal cause I wasn't in the middle of any game and it's not like I replay old games, but still...

I read that forum and didn't get much out of it other than this seems to happen with 'some' games.  I checked my mem stick and it's magicgate supported so that's not the issue.

I think the problem is if you play a game on a firmware version that game isn't meant for, and then upgrade. Is this the case?

Makes sense.  All the games I've tried were 5.00ish games that I played on 3.71.

So at least my older saves for old games should still be good then.  Cool.  Thanks for the explanation.
