the combat system looks really good. A lot on gaf (or actually just himuro since the world watermelon caught my eye) are saying its' like X-2, but I dunno, it really reminds me of Chrono Trigger.

i don't get the CT comparison outside of enemies on the field and ATB. seems more like Chrono Cross actually.

I'm sticking with my CT comparison. I never didp lay Chrono Cross, so I don't have a point reference there.

X-2 battles were actually a lot of fun to play. I usually don't think that about most battle systems.

Well it looks like you do combos with different attacks like VP and then it goes to the next character and you do the same. Only instead of assigning the attacks to buttons you manually scroll through them sort of like WKS.

I think the framerate was pretty horrible yeah, and for the type of battle system they are going with... I think the game would've greatly benefited by having battles at 60fps. :'(

FF7 didn't really have framerate problems though, it just ran at a constant 15fps in battle.

O hay actual in game footage finally. This is the first confirmation that ffxiii is a game and not just a pile of cg. A bit more futurey/sci-fi-ish than I'd like but still looks cool. Why can't they do s'more steampunk shit?

maybe it was a PAL thing? we had big black borders and inconsistant frame rates.

something that continued well into this century with horrible FFX and FFX-2 ports.
