The funniest and saddest commercial on tv
« on: January 28, 2009, 01:07:50 PM »
It has to be the WWF Polar Bears commercial  :lol :lol

It is beyond me how Noah remains serious during the entire commercial

People are dying on daily basis from starvation and this guy wants to save polar bears  ::)

It is like a parody commercial or something out of south Park.

The best part is that you get a picture of polar bears for free when you call!!  :lol

Quote from: youtube comment

Not that the commercial isn't lame, but what exactly is wrong with this? Duder likes polar bears.  It's not like if you are feeling the need to work for a cause that you have to go for the most altruistic cause in the book.

They should just throw starving people in with polar bears. Whoever wins gets a meal.

The reason why people are starving is humanity's fault.

And the reason why Polar Bears are dying is humanity's fault too.

it just pisses me off because I think that these people should be focusing their attention on human lives.

You always see celebrities doing commercials for animals. The only commercial for helping poor kids (that I can remember) is the christian fund commercial with the old guy.

It is just sad to see them focusing on freaking polar bears, a species that mainly lives in the Arctic Ocean away from civilization. And in the meantime, children and women are starvingin gaza, darfur, many other places in Africa and all around the world.

We drown the polar bears there so we don't have to shoot them here.  If we 'save' the polar bears it's only a matter of time before they come looking for more food.

Polar bears aren't going to give a damn when we're dwindling towards extinction, either.

Yeah, there are no UNICEF ads on TV, and there have certainly been no focus on Africa from celebrities and news channels covering said celebrities in the past year.  ::)  In the case of African regions currently at war, nothing short of a common fund and a company like EO is going to do shit. Sure, some attention will aid in rebuilding (which is where the aforementioned celeb specials would come in), but you first need "peace" to get a good foundation for that.

As for Gaza, start squeezing your government about it if it bothers you.

Just because you lack the ability to give a shit about more than one thing, doesn't mean that the world does.

As for polar bears, even if you don't give a shit about the species itself, you should at least have the sense about you to understand that allowing a major carnivore in a balancing ecosystem to become extinct isn't going to work in anyone's favor.

ER is about to go off the air. Dr. John Carter needs to scoop up all the money he can.

He's not in it anymore. :( He left a couple seasons ago, made me so sad because he was my favorite.

I love polar bears and want them to be around for my kids. I'm such a bleeding heart for endangered animals.

Haha.  Really, if you're going to do this sort of earnest ad for a charity, it should be common fucking sense to not put it on Comedy Central.

Yesterday during the Super Bowl, this commercial for dog adoption came on and  David Duchovny did the voice over for it.  ::)

Along with countless number of beer commercials featuring celebrities. Guess how many commercials talked about feeding the poor, and helping children across the world?? ZERO

It is good to know that people are willing to spend millions of dollars in ads to promote these things and yet they don't even give a shit about humans.
