Ok, I checked RSS again at work to verify if we (bestbuy) still had a street date for sfiv, since everyone was saying there wasnt one. If no date is linked to the SKU the best buy registers will let employees ring out the game with no street date block that requires an override. \o/

My advice is to start checking stores around the 10th because thats when our shipment is arriving.

They were selling those pads before Gamestop got them in!

your best bet is Sears. They get the game waaaaaay earlyer

For instance they had copies of Fable 2 more than a week before street date. I almost was able to buy one too but their computer was taged with the sd. If SF has no street date ill be stopping by Sears on Tuesday to pick up a copy

Scored one at a Gamestop that was about 30 miles away...only one in the whole city that had some, WTF? They had this Ryu pad and a Blanka pad, both for 360. I'm going to try Best Buy again tomorrow and see if I can find a Chun-Li pad, but if not this will hold me until Amazon starts shipping them out.

FWIW a Gamestop manager I spoke to said he expected them to be in all the stores on Monday.

please give some impressions of it when using as a normal controller. Everyone seems obsessed with the D-pad not being as good as the Saturn one, and I realize that, but my main purpose was to use it as my emulation controller. I think the L/R buttons to also be good, except no one talks about them.

Gets a THUMBS-UP from me. Do I think it's as good as a Saturn pad? Time's gonna tell on that, right now I'd say the Saturn pad is better, but this thing is NICE. I plugged it in and immediately got a winning streak in HD Remix.

It's got a good feel, plus rubber grips on the sides so it doesn't slip. Feels good to hold and the d-pad is better than the 360's d-pad by a country mile. The people bitching about the Saturn pad need to shut the fuck up about it; this thing does a good job and it also has the benefit of having a mic port, turbo options, and you can even switch the d-pad to analog mode (for either stick) if you need that.

and WTF at there being no rumble. i can deal without rumble in a fighting game but for other games i wanted to use the pad with that is disappointing

People are confusing "cheap" with "light." No rumble or battery, so it feels VERY light. It works nicely and no rumble doesn't bother me in the slightest since this is made with fighting games in mind.

Nothing today. One guy on SRK claims he got a copy from 7-11, but that's because his family owns several stores and he was able to get one with "connections." No one seems to be able to produce proof they have it yet AFAIK, so most people think these are just people who pirated it.

Someone on GAF got a PS3 fighting pad today...hopefully they will be everywhere by tomorrow.

My order for the J-version has changed to "Preparing Order" on P-A though.

Yeah, with PS3 you can use PS2 controllers, but with 360 the Mad Catz pad is the only one of its kind.

This seems weird considering that videos out there are showing stuff like English voices with Korean subs in cut scenes though. I'm going to wait for more clarification.

I'm fine with not getting SF4 early since it will be out next wednesday, which is after the day I have 3 tests and a big paper due, but I really want to at least try this controller. If Best Buy didn't suck and wasn't so far away, I would have grabbed one from them.

I heard the d-pad on the MadCatz controller was pretty shitty.

If you've ever used a Saturn controller, you know how good the d-pad is. The only problem with the Saturn controller is that it's kind of small.

I think the SNES pad would be perfect if the top row of buttons was the same size as the bottom, it had a select button, and the shoulder buttons were a bit better. As is it's still the best 2D controller there is.
