God fucking damnit: music shame edition
« on: February 04, 2009, 01:17:47 AM »
From being stuck without an mp3 player for like 2 weeks, I was exposed to too much radio, and I am kinda, uh, craving listening to Death Cab at this point :(  I think I need some support.  Someone please help me through these difficult times.

NPR plays a lot of stuff I find really uninteresting.  I was listening to KEXP, but not exclusively.

At work? No mp3 player? Do what I do: stream your music from your home PC via Orb, it's beyond awesome.

What happened to your MP3 player?  How could you go without one for weeks?  Why not just buy a refurb'ed nano or something?

Can you stream internet radio over your cell phone?  I'd listen to SomaFM all the time, if I actually had a data plan for my iPhone.

For better or worse, I'm addicted to the 160 gig mp3 players, and I didn't want to waste money on a flash one.  My player broke several days before Christmas, so I really didn't have the opportunity to buy a new one until after new year.  I did have my iPhone, but I only have a Zune car adapter.  I could have just used the speaker on the iPhone in my car, but that would have sounded like ass.

Yeah, but again, I'd have to buy an iPhone car adapter, and I'm trying toelimate excess wires from my life, not add even more :p

FM adaptors are fine (particularly for podcasts, audiobooks, and other voice content).  The way people talk about them you'd think it sounds like a victrola from 1918 or something, but it sounds (surprise!) more or less like FM radio.

And besides, I don't see anyone else suggesting another wireless solution.

Exactly.  Sounds like shit.

While I hate Death Cab, I like the Postal Service.  Go figure.

I like Death Cab up to Transatlanticism.  Everything they released since then has been just too tacky for me.  I Will Follow You Into the Dark is depressing shit.

But yeah, the Postal Service rocked.  They need to make another album.

Exactly.  Sounds like shit.

If the only alternative is listening to commercial FM radio, then what is there to whine about?  Listening to something you like at FM-quality is better than listening to car dealership ads every 10 minutes at FM quality.
