hope so

I rocked in Berlin

Oh so it's going to be a small release like BF: Heroes and not a retail game. That sounds pretty interesting and hopefully will get a steam release.

no

BF Heroes is a free browser based game that is more simple to pick up and play.

BF 1943 is a downloadable game based on BF1942.  You pay for it.

I remember when Mike Works and I used to suicide jeep bomb enemies on the Pacific maps.  And do rally races across the entire island while people were fighting - they'd get so pissed. :lol

Warhawk is the only big one to come to mind on consoles.  On PC there is Crysis, Quake Wars, and some others.

well, I guess the idea of capturing bases and all that.  but I don't know if 1942 started that.

i don't like unlimited ammo, but i'm fine with auto healing

Not the true sequel to BF1942 that I was hoping for but I'm ok with this.

if people want a modern setting class based shooter they can play BF2, one of its popular realism mods, or go play ArmA

$15-$20 for some dumb but fun WW2 online FPS gaming in the same vein as BF1942 (also dumb but fun). Sounds pretty good.

When i played BF Modern Combat and BFBC nobody played medic. So not a shock

Modern Combat had health boxes (or whatever they're called) at most flag points, though.  A fair amount of people played medics too, if only because of less reloading and the ability to heal yourself.  This was the 360 version, though, I'm not sure how that differs compared to the last-gen versions.

But yeah, Bad Company had almost no one playing medic though.  And with no health boxes, if you were at 15% health you could easily stay at that point of black-and-whiteness for minutes.  Dice really screwed the pooch with BC.  Hopefully they fix everything in BC2, but I doubt it.

It'd be a shame if BC was responsible for, say, the auto-health and no medic class decisions, but the game seems to be slimmed down in order to be noob-friendly or something.

that doesn't make sense. they didn't switch anything up. they took what made 1942 good and improved on every aspect.

Better designed maps, better classes, structured gameplay that makes working as a team easy and seamless. the commander, all that stuff.

but it still basically played the same as 1942. Dudes on different teams trying to take command of control points on a map.

I wish my copy came with the "fistfulofmetal" mod so I could agree with you.

do you don't agree with my points? How exactly are they flawed?

Does that mean you would like BF to return to '64 people running around randomly on a giant map' gameplay?

good footage of it.  It's more or less a Bad Company mod, not so much Battlefield 1942 action.

yeah, I like the bomber idea, but if people are as good as flying in this as they were in 1942, I'd imagine they'd get shot down quickly.

Console players used the support classes in BF: BC so I don't get why they removed them.  There's no need to have teamwork anymore so it might not feel like a BF game.  I will have to wait and see.

pc version in september makes me worry

From an email I got today:

Q: Why are we releasing the PC version of Battlefield 1943 in September?

A: The PC is built around the core game and that development process takes a bit longer. We want to ensure a true PC experience and that includes additional features support and gameplay that are not utilized for the console. – Gordon Van Dyke, BF1943 Producer
