Further proof- the NY Mets will give you AIDS.  I'm glad we didn't try harder to bring Glavine back now.

PITCHERS AND CATCHERS!!!!!!!!!!!

(Nationals have a shot at 80 wins).

More importantly, PECOTA projections have risen for the Crew, bumping them to 86 with the signing of Looper.  Also, highest slugging in the Majors.

Other updates:
Cubs: now 97-65
Mets: now 92-70
Diamondbacks: now 92-70
Braves: now 87-75
Phillies: now 87-75
Brewers: now 86-76
Dodgers: now 84-78
Cardinals: 80-82
Giants: now 78-84

Holy shit at Diamondbacks.

BP Top prospects list is up:

http://baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=8506

My Matt Weiters boner remains strong.

It's patently clear to me that the Brewers farm system needs some of this "stimulus" coin being randomly pissed all over America.

Gamels and LaPorta are both overrated. Escobar is the real gem of the Brewer farm system, imo. Too bad he got injured.

Weiters is the real deal. The kid is a machine and I can't wait until he gets brought up. Kind of wierd still seeing Maybin on a prospect list.

The Indians might have gotten the steal of the year last year. They got Carlos Santana (ranked 32nd overall) for half a season of Casey Blake.

LaPorta is in the Indians system.  The real gem of the Brewers system is Jeffres.  If he hadn't smoked a season two years ago he'd be fighting for a spot on the team right now.

Gamels will be an above average first basemen when the Brewers trade Prince Fielder for Zach Greinke.

Wait, you're an Indians fan, right?

I didn't mean to imply that LaPorta was part of the Brewer system, just making the observation that he isn't the #1 prospect in the Indian farm system.

I'm hoping Hanson has a kick ass enough spring that Bobby is forced to use him in the 5th starter slot.  The only thing I have to be interested in are our young guys.  Ok, that and the inevitable last day of the season choke job from the Mutts.

Id rather call him up in June and delay his arbitration years kicking in for a year. We need to save money. Especially with Liberty Pinch pockets Media. Stoked about him,. Schafer and Heyward though

It's not that bad actually.  Flores put up better numbers than Beckham in the Appalachian League, and was two years younger.  He can't play short though, so they need to find him a spot.  Brad Holt might be a better version of Pelfrey, less movement on the FB, but it gets on you fast and his secondary stuff may be better.

Problem with the Mets is that never pay above the slot when they draft, you'll find the Yanks/Sox often paying above what they should given the slot the player was drafted in.  At least they go after the Latin ball players.

Yeah, me too.  I hope he stays healthy, and has a big spring.  Manuel is willing to give guys a go when others are struggling so Martinez may get a shot if he performs.  It'll be interesting to see Manuel's approach this season, he pulled out all stops last year, and no one really got a free ride.  Hope he continues to manage that way.

I'm high on the team as a whole, wasn't so sure in '07 or '08, but I think we have a shot this year.

First team is ace other than the fact that your RP are either not so good or aren't going to be closing.  Second team is... yeah.  A further note on the first team- if I had been in that draft, mock or not, there would NOT have been such quality SP so late in the draft.  WTF?

Yea, don't most actual drafts hit the good SP and closers pretty quick, like 2-5th rounds usually? Or is that just a trend in the last 4 Fantasy drafts I've been in?

EB Loose Balls- a head to head league that has a live draft on Saturday March 21st at 1 pm
EB Roto- hur hur hard to figure out what this is, live draft on Sunday March 22nd at 1 pm

PM me if you want in and tell me which league (or both, whatever) and I'll get you the league id# and password.

Phoenix - Prince Fielder strolled through the backdoor of the clubhouse almost an hour ago wearing jeans and an untucked t-shirt.

And from his face to his waist, the change was immediately noticable: Prince Fielder has slimmed down.

Fielder said he hasn't changed his diet much or done anything exotic. He simply stepped up the cardio and his workout regimine in the off-season. He doesn't know how much he weighs because he said he "hates" scales, but he is definitely down a bunch from what he was at the end of last season (some people estimated he was at least 20 pounds heavier than his 2008 Opening Day listing of 270 pounds).

Fielder's weight has always been a point of contention among his critics, but I'm here to say right now that he sounds and looks committed to keeping the weight down. As he put it, "They want me to keep it down, so I'm definitely gonna do it." Fielder doesn't like to talk about his weight much, but when I told him it was a noticable difference, he smiled and said "thanks." So it appears he feels good about it and the fans don't have to gripe about that anymore for the near future.

Another change people will notice this season is a new tattoo on the right side of Fielder's neck. He got angel wings to balance out the Asian characters on the left side. He said he thought about getting matching wings on each side, but the characters were too popular.

Tubby hit the slim fast.

I'm pretty confident that he's signed with Atlanta, just hasn't been announced because

A) he needs to pass a physical, and with Griffey you DO want to be sure he didn't pull something in the last five minutes
B) the Braves probably didn't want to announce something and have it get lost in the A-Roid presser shuffle
