I'm slowly going through Photopia on Frotz after thetrin over at gaf made a thread about it.  It's good, but it's linear to the point that it hardly feels like a game so it's not really grabbing me.

Just finished Edge a couple of days ago. Thinking of grabbing that Time Crisis game.

There was a decent article on this in Wired recently:
http://blog.wired.com/games/2009/01/ten-iphone-game.html

Having just purchased an iPod Touch, I'm hoping to play some decent games. Dr. Awesome is pretty fun: QIX with a tilt-based control scheme.

buy a PSP losers

I did in 2005.  It's currently under a lair of dust thicker than what my Wii has.  No thanks to remakes of PSOne RPGs.  No fucking thanks.

Dr. Awesome is good but it hits about two notes so it gets old in a day or two.  It's still worth the $2 or whatever I paid for it, if nothing else because it pulls the "patients" from your contacts.

I'd buy an Iphone but...it's still too crappy for games imho.

I wish Sony would get with the program and release a PSPhone.

How do you know it's crappy when you don't have one?  Keep in mind that the games that work best on the iPhone (word, board, puzzle, strategy, etc.) are much, much different from the full-fledged games that work best on the PSP.  I'm not sure why everyone insists on comparing the two.

The one thing that I do know is that I'll never, ever carry around my PSP in my pocket, so Sony has a huge uphill battle with any "PSPhone" that they come out with.

Maybe if the phone had both a touchscreen AND conventional controls it could work...plus more horsepower then the Iphone.

It works just fine for what it does.  Why do you want the form factor to be bigger?  It's perfect right now, so getting any bigger will ensure that it doesn't fit in your pocket.  You don't need traditional controls for everything, and every type of game doesn't need to work on the iPhone, especially since it's really designed to just waste a few minutes here and there.

I'm talking of what I'd like to see in a PSPhone.

Touchscreen AND normal controls.

The Iphone is what it is, I'm just afraid the moment I buy one Sony will come with a PSPhone or something.

And it will suck.  Just think about holding anything remotely resembling a PSP up to your ear.  Or carrying it around in your pocket.

Do yourself a favor and get an iPhone.

Why? It doesnt have to be as big as the PSP does it? :S

If it's bigger than the iPhone it's too big.  Since most of the iPhone is the screen, where are you going to put the buttons?

how about under the screen, like all those fancy PDA's with a keyboard?

Those fancy PDAs have much smaller screens and still tend to be bigger than iPhones.  If you make it a slider, then it's much thicker than the iPhone.  There's just no way to make a perfect gaming device/phone hybrid.
