Its thin as fuck but shit its way too much money ;_; . Its crazy that multipurpose devices that can do lots of shit cost about that much (fucking iPhone). I guess that electronic ink technology must be a bitch.

They should come out with a $200 version that requires bluetooth sync or some shit, or even a USB cable.

Just how good is the battery life anyway? What makes the digital ink shit worth it?

The digital ink just has amazing resolution and contrast. I looks just like you are reading a physical page The complaint about earlier ebook readers were eyestrain, due to back light glare. The e-ink tech is very easy on the eyes and the text is very crisp, not pixelated.

Kind of wish it was designed in such a way that the screen takes up all the area in front and the keyboard slides out from somewhere. Keep the buttons for turning pages out in the open. Almost as if your holding a single page with nothing else to bother you. But other than that, it looks good.

I had read in another thread that its still experimental/beta. I believe its a proprietary converter from Amazon.

That is real hot, but $360. yeesh. I prefer reading paper text as opposed to digital, but that looks very matte and like it would cause little to no eye strain.

hell, if you just want to use it for reading ebooks, light web surfing, and a few programs, you can find first-gen 4GB SSD drive netbooks for less than $200 now and just pop a 16GB sdhc card in the reader

most netbooks don't weigh much more than 2 pounds, and they are tiny, the only thing that kills them is battery life

two biggest differences are that a netbook battery usually is under 5 hours while they claim the Kindle battery lasts days/weeks. Also, e-ink to make reading less stressful or something (I've never had a problem reading off an LCD, etc.)

I guess this makes sense if you have a lot of e-books you want to read on a bus or train but hopefully they can drive down the price.

er, that's exactly WHY it's necessary. if I'm going to buy something just to read books on, it better be damn good at displaying books. I'd probably consider buying @300 though.

Have you used one? The e-ink tech is pretty awesome. DPI isn't really an accurate or relevant measurement for this type of tech. You've got to see it for yourself.
