Wow, what a distorted perspective. Maher wasn't upset that the guy was anti-person who believes in the development and protection of a Jewish nation, the rabbi was a Holocaust denier and batshit insane. That's the problem.

I don't think Maher really cares if someone is anti-person who believes in the development and protection of a Jewish nation, but he is one of those "never forget" dudes.

the whole movie is very light and had a "lol i dunno whats true but religion is kinda lame" vibe.
but at the end it get's all serious and has a "religion is evil and should end RIGHT NOW" vibe.

I just finished it and it sucks.

TVC, the last 10 minutes is like a "religion am bad" music video.  It's like fistful says where he interviews people and points out flaws in their logic throughout the film and then tries to tack on a half-assed message to all atheists at the end.

The movie was fine until he got to Amsterdam.  Up to that point, he was on the defense but then he I guess thought that the religious problems with christianity in America were in any way comparable to the problems with Islam in the Netherlands.  It was especially fucked up how he didn't call out Geert Wilders for all the insane shit he's preached.  I lost all respect for Maher after his Dutch interviews so it's a good thing that the movie ended shortly after that.

Also, it didn't seem to me that that rabbi was a holocaust denier.  He admits that there was a holocaust of millions of Jews in the film but he disagrees with the idea of a Jewish state.  The weird part is that he has a relationship with Ahmadenijad but I think that that rabbi was just plain anti-person who believes in the development and protection of a Jewish nation so it didn't make sense to me how Bill just blew him off.

He went to a summit for Holocaust denial in Iran, dude.  That's why Maher lost it.  Did you even watch the movie?

Not only that, he waffles on the subject on Jews' safety and this is after refusing Maher to speak several times.

I just rewatched that part right now and it still sounds like he's admitting that the holocaust took place.  I think the guy's kind of schizo so it could be that he went to the holocaust conference because he likes anything anti-person who believes in the development and protection of a Jewish nation.

Honestly though, why include that interview in this movie?  The problems with that rabbi's logic aren't really because of religion so I'm guessing Maher included the interview for political reasons, it could also be why he never talks with any "normal" Jews and only criticizes the most weird-ass ones he could find.  Maybe he's just more biased towards that side of his family.
