Brains! the Musical

Before we get any further into this, I want to say, no, you can't read the screenplay. I'm sure the film will be available eventually to where you can watch it. In a society where Rocky Horror Picture Show has a cult following, I have no doubt that there will be some sort of cult following behind Brains! the Musical one day.

Basically, some friends of mine are directing and producing a zombie musical. That's right, a film about singing zombies. Say what you want to about the plot so far, but you can't deny that it hasn't been done before, because it hasn't.

I'm reading through the screenplay right now, and it's hilarious. It isn't "haha I'm going to laugh at it because its my friends" hilarious, it's the real deal. I'm also proud to say that both me and tehjaybo have parts in this film. Tehjaybo actually managed to nab one of the main characters after wowing both me and my friends. Good on you, man.

This is a student film, but it's going through the majority of the phases that most major pictures go through. The project is just emerging out of preproduction, a process that took approximately two years (getting it approved by the college we go to as well as waiting for the schedules to clear for the director and assistant director) and casting was legitimate, being an open call from not only the college but the outside as well (tehjaybo's casting being a testament to this, he doesn't go to the college I attend) Production is supposed to start this weekend, and I will be on one of the first call lists. I also think that I will be helping run cameras and boom mics on the production, and I don't doubt that I will probably be helping them edit it together as well.

The reason this thread exists, other than the obvious reason of promoting the film for its inevitable release in some form in the future, is to piece together some sort of production journal. I'm excited that something this monumental is happening at a college that doesn't even offer a formal film degree, and I feel that this film, if it succeeds, could be a pathway to being recognized and used at some point in a later film. Comment at will, I'm sure this will turn into something entertaining for all of us.

One of the songs literally the lines: "I'm pretty, i'm pretty, I'm a pretty girl... but - I - fear I'm underdeveloped as a character because I exist solely as the complication in the plot because the male writer secretly harbors feelings of inferiority because of a long history of rejection by women"
