I like how the guy in the video is trying to hit the zombies with the bat and keeps missing.

The idea of using RE4-style gun aiming is cool and all, but it just comes together so damned AWFUL. Why didn't Capcom just develop a companion game to Resident Evil 5 using the RE4 engine? Not necessarily a port, but a different game and story to alongside it. I bet it would have sold better than this will.

I never realized that. Maybe, just maybe, this is all intentional on Capcom's part. Dead Rising on the 360 came out before the recession hit. For the 2009 edition, it would better reflect the reality every nation and most malls face if they were now pruned of most of their inhabitants.

Maybe Capcom is trying to make a Dead Rising game that better reflects our more troubled economic times and thusly functions as a commentary on the soul and physical rotting of unchecked spending and commercialization. That there are fewer "zombies" could mean that the old practice of propping up our economy by spending on services and luxury goods is yielding diminishing returns and as such is unsustainable, and less pervasive then in years past.

its all actually very clever on Capcom's part. GOTY stuff really.

No song in the courtyard and no convicts; just silence and one-hit-kill poodles and parrots.

You 'jump' by going to context sensitive locations on the map, then do the action command (Z + A) to jump over that one specific spot. Normally you can't even walk, or jump, over a 1 foot bump in the ground.

I've only encountered them twice. I've beat them once in the beginning and once half-through the game.
They're not so hard. Just kill the one standing behind the turrent. Take the turrent and kill the rest.

Part of it was to see if it would be hilariously bad; the other was to find enjoyment from the RE4 controls. I haven't found entertainment either way. First game since Spider-Man 3 on the PS3 I'm returning. This game also is the reason why I'm signing up for Gamefly in the next week. Announcing the sequel for the 360 before seeing if this shit-port would sell better or not.

And there are four big positives with the game: 1) proves more power doesn't just mean better graphics; 2) improves Dead Rising shooting controls (and ruins the far superior 360 melee in the process.) ok, that's actually more of a negative; 3) makes me want to play Dead Rising on the 360, again; 4) finally convinced me to get Gamefly.

What a distinguished mentally-challenged fellow. Why shouldn't they be comparable? Someone who already played the X360 version should NEVER play this game for longer than 10 minutes.
And that's exacly what I did. The whole experience is such a downgrade. DR Wii is bad game on its own, but after you've played the X360 version, it gets worse..

nah, it does improve on shooting. But if you didn't play Dead Rising, you'd know that you never need to shoot a gun because melee is fuckawesome ripping out guts and climbing on zombies n' shit. They take away all the awesome melee, put better combat, and the result is a negative from a positive plus a super negative. The shooting controls are RE4 Wii if they had the only two weak points on a zombie being the Head and Everything else, then took away all the satisfaction of shooting/hitting an enemy. In RE4 there was a great crunch when you blew someones head off, here the head pops off without a sound at times; other times you'd shoot an enemy and he'd die without any real idea why. The worst is probably the explosions, which just have zombies go from standing vertical to laying on the ground dead. Sometimes using the Katana won't even cut an enemy, yet they'd still die.

In watching that video, the graphics really aren't all that bad. Certainly not bad enough to make me feel bad about playing it, if I hadn't already played the original. The major problem is the almost complete lack of zombies, which completely breaks the whole game. There's absolutely no danger at all, you just wander aimlessly and sometimes chase down a zombie and hit it with something. How did Capcom think dropping the zombie count that low was going to work?
