Both, well Lent was sort of on and off when I was till to young to say "fuck this shit!" but I've completely dropped the whole "sacrificing a vice/common thing" shit. I'm reminded of it simply due to my mother callin' me up and nagging about "DON'T YOU EAT MEAT" and I'm all "fuck this shit!"

The first day of Lent (I think its the beginning of the 40 days leading to Easter? Ash Wednesday) is a non meat day and then each subsequent Friday up till Easter.
