It may seem that way if you're an internet addict, but there should be nothing stopping you from leading a healthy (habit-wise) life and using the internet. It all lies in how well you manage your time.

Of course, that's always easier said than done.

I really stopped giving a shit about the internet after sophomore year at uni, and my life got a lot better.

Now I just kinda sorta cruise around the internet and a couple of forums and contribute nothing of real substance if I'm a bit bored.

This is a fun place to go to to talk about video games since no one I know really has slightly similar gaming interests.  It's also a nice place to get the news and have some funny off-topic discussions although it would be funner with MAF here.

TBH, I've read smarter discussions on politics on video game forums than I've ever seen in real life.  About half of my ME friends are 9/11 truthers so I have never really had a good, balanced political discussion offline now that I actually think about it.

I think MAF is like totally a normal though.  I can sort of see why he might not get very much from a game forum.

The internet is a complete time sinkhole.

In all the thousands upon thousands of hours invested on the internet, I can't really think of anything positive I have picked up during this time.  On the other hand, some of the internet personalities I've come across baffle me:

1) The twentysomething virgin - These dudes write thousands of posts about their virginity and their only solution is half assed measures.  Not sure what they are trying to accomplish.  Sure, you laugh at them, and hell, I think a lot of them like to get laughed at, if their actions are any indicator.

2) The butthurt - These guys have batshit insane opinions and then get all butthurt when they're called out on it.  "What!?  You guys don't like the gold standard?  OMGWTF!!!!"

3) The gamma male - Says stupid things, does stupid things, and then blames society for his problems.  Spews impotent rage at something he doesn't like and then posts a picture of himself, 5'9" and 130 lbs soaking wet with a pissed off looking face in another thread.
