Kolzig, Joseph, Gerber? If only this was 1996. Wait Gerber was never good.

Looks like Phoenix and Tampa had a fire sale. Edmonton, San Jose, Calgary and NY made some decent moves and got better. Toronto picked up some mediocre picks and ancient goaltenders. Montreal sat on its 100 year old hands.

On the bright side, Toronto didn't go shopping to make a late season playoff run. That almost makes Gerber forgivable. I can wait a few more years. The Kolzig deal had me scratching my head a bit, though. Guess we'll see how he is next year, if he gets re-signed.

Yeah. That coveted 9th place spot Toronto always seems to get.

Heard Burke on Primetime earlier today. According to him, it's basically a salary dump on Tampa's part. Toronto takes on salary and in return they receive a draft pick. Since the NHL doesn't allow straight-up salary dumps, they had to make the trade somewhat convoluted.

Tampa is losing a ton of money. Next season, they'll have decent upper-bowl season tickets for about $250.

It's crazy. Every year or so my friends and I splurge and get tickets up in the millionaire boxes and make a whole drunken trip out of it. Having said that, I'm out of touch what a lower-bowl seat would run you at the ACC these days.

Top end on Ticketmaster is $400. So through scalpers you're looking at $600. In 2006 I had to call in like 10 favors to get nosebleeds to see the Vancouver game. This year I did the smart thing and went to see the Canucks in Buffalo. Half the price and a better game all in all.
