Some Lennon/McCartney Songs Given Away to Other Artists
« on: December 05, 2006, 01:07:55 AM »
For the most part these were spare Beatles songs that John and Paul gave to other artists. So you won't find Strawberry Fields quality songs here.

There are others, but I only included the ones I could link to Youtube.

"A World Without Love" by Peter and Gordon (1964)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=-0jN09b5-oE
#1 UK and #1 US and in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame top 500

"Woman" by Peter and Gordon (1966)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=rrKdugGY_vk
#14 US and #28 US

"Goodbye" by Mary Hopkins (1969)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=d7PFkJFiA5c
#2 UK (Get Back by the Beatles #1 at the time)

"I Wanna Be Your Man" by the Stones (1963 later released by the Beatles)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=a8achh-7qpU
This was the Stones' second single and it hit #12 on the charts

"Step Inside Love" by Cilla Black (1968)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=REsDrf6PG44
#8 UK

"It's For You" by Cilla Black (1964)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=ql0F62aw86w
#7

"Come And Get It" by Badfinger (1970)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=8rOH7sPkKJo&mode=related&search=
#7 US and #4 UK

"Bad To Me" by Billy J. Kramer with The Dakotas (1963)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=yRFjlWC54kw
#1 in the UK

"Like dreamers do" The Applejacks (written in 1961 and it is a very bad song)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=a8achh-7qpU
#20

'I'm in Love' was inexplicably tossed aside.
Ha, those Youtubers and their tributes... I could only find it here.

Terrible audio quality aside, that demo is miles better than the version the The Fourmost's recorded.

Good find. Thanks.
