I anticipate this movie without feelings.

ST's carcass has been beaten to death so much that any attempt to give it CPR should be met with the realization that it'd be nice if a miracle occurred and a pulse was found, but if it that doesn't happen it's ok to just pack the bags up and feel good that at least they tried.

(still, Kirk broodingly riding his motorbike through a cornfield only to see the Enterprise being built, LOL WUT)

Yeah, I was pretty underwhelmed by the trailer.  The bit where they're like BUT WE HAVE NO CAPN!  And Kirk goes, "YES WE DO!" and sits in the chair?  Hokeyville.

Star Trek > Transformers 2 :bow

Though I gotta admit the people behind this are obviously trying waaaay too hard to make it seem like this is the Batman Begins of this year. Trailer's style and the music comes across totally as KIRK BEGINS.

As a Sci-fi fan, I thought it looked good. Kind of Wrath of Khan meets Kirk origin. Which sounds pretty good to me.

When almost half of the Trek movies are garbage, its not like the bar is set too high.

Still think they missed on the Kirk casting. It'd be hard to find another Shatner (say what you will about his acting, but he was likable while still swaggering like a pimp) but just casting a sorta generic pretty-boy for the role feels off. Should've gone with someone with more personality but still good-looking.

The guy who said it at a panel that got AICN going? He said he was misunderstood. And TrekMovie.com which has been the main site for spoilers in this (had all of the casting announcements before they were public too) said they aren't in it at all. There are 24th century characters but not the TNG Cast.

And tng cast members said they aren't in it, and most of them have bashed this movie too lol.

And now the son isn't given command of the Enterprise but rather "takes" it?

Hmmm....

I liked the original Star Trek because it was oftentimes about people and ideas.

I'm not entirely sure that this new Trek will be about either.

The trailers have to be laden with special effects, quick cuts, and laser battles, I know. I just have a feeling this is going to be heavy on the spectacle and light on the other stuff.
