Anyone Use Modafinil?
« on: December 05, 2006, 02:05:20 AM »
Yes I had trouble again with the LSAT.  :-[ I was unable to sleep the night before the test and I barely slept the previous night. I also developed chest pain in the morning and was unable to drink any coffee, so suffice to say I was not in much of a state to take a 4 hour test where speed is a necessity. So yeah another score canceled.

So I have one last chance for late admissions and I know there is no chance in hell I'll sleep the night before the next test. I thought the only sensible thing to do was to order some Modafinil. This drug is intended to treat narcolepsy, but it has been used for other purposes. Some people use this stuff as a nootropic. The French, American and British militaries use it to keep their people awake. In one study helicopter pilots were kept awake for 88 hours on this stuff. Sleep deprived F-117 pilots performed near baseline levels while taking modafinil.

Anyway does anyone have any experiences with this drug?

you need an intelligent study strategy, not brute forcing it, 'cuz it's obvious the latter ain't working for you. How about regular sleep and diet, and concentrate on specific areas in the time you DO have?

The studying isn't the problem, the lack of sleep before the test is. I went to bed at around 9:00 and spent the next 8 hours in bed wanting to slit my wrists. I figure since I won't be able to sleep (because of my anxiety) I might as well take something that will allow me to perform like I was actually well rested. This isn't about brute force cramming, I think I've studied more than enough.

It goes by a number of names? Have you taken it?

Better question: what drug haven't you taken?  :P
