magic ball on psn
« on: March 07, 2009, 06:54:27 PM »
this is a great game and well worth the 10 bucks

it's one of my favorite downloadable games i've bought ever

some quick thoughts:

- it's 3d brick breaker (maybe 2.5d, idk)

- the gfx are nice and the physics are pretty good

- the power ups include rocket launchers, cannonball, laser, machine guns, tornado, lightning, earthquake, meteors, crazy ball, spike ball which goes through everything, multi-ball of course, small ball, big ball, night cycle, and some others

- there's a lot of levels but the game isn't too long i hear... i think there's two big worlds, one that's pirate-themed and another that's medieval, although there's a bunch of levels that look just random like big gorillas and stuff

- there's also multi-player but i haven't played it

- great for casual people who come over your place and wanna try the ps3 but also great for you

definitely get this if you like brick breaker at all
hey

Yep, the game is awesome. And very addictive. Bought it on day 1.

Only two trophies left to go. But I don't think I'll even get them...

I read the thread title and was expecting some sort of dumb Magic 8-Ball thing.

The knight levels aren't great.

Is there a demo

It's PSN so probably not. Here's a trailer for it. Looks like a decent take on the Breakout/Arkanoid formula.

Eh, when he said 3D I thought it was going to actually be 3D, like a bottom-up view or some shit. No thanks, I'll play Peggle for $2.50, with demo, instead

Looks pretty cool, I'll admit I've been ignoring PSN for the longest time though... is there a demo available?

there is no demo, but there's no way you won't like it if you enjoy brick breaker and thought the trailer was good...just buy it.  actually, i might be able to share it with a couple of you guys.  let me know if you want, but i recommend you buy it and support the game.

Looks like they sell PSN cards at EB/GS now.. I always thought they were exclusive to Blockbuster and some weird Midwestern chain I never heard of... so perhaps I'll take a run down there and pick up a card and this game. And Super Stardust.. I'm quite behind on PSN games, I only have Wipeout HD.

They have psn cards everywhere now. I've seen them at 7-11, Wal-Mart, and Target now.

The game is about as deep as a conversation between Greatness Gone and Paris Hilton. But the gameplay is fun. Too bad there isn't more to the single player game: there are no leagues, no tournies, no teams, no playoffs, etc.

Yeah, that sucks... at least there's local & online play.  The gameplay is great and very accessible.  I'm gonna cop...probably a fun game to play with friends.
