He said that Spider-Man 4 is definitely next for him and he has only signed on for Spidey 4, no more like rumored, and that right now his plans are to finally knock out Evil Dead 4 right after the next Spider-Man film.

He has been talking about it for over a decade, I'll believe it when he actually starts filming it.

As huge of an Evil Dead fan I am I think I've reached a point where news like this has become numb to me. He's been saying this stuff for years and didn't Bruce Campbell say last month there wasn't going to be an Evil Dead 4?

Really. The low-tech effects gave the films some of their charm, so I'll be curious to see if the new one feels a bit less "right" for having a decent FX budget.

Well he did say if he did evil dead 4 (although this was like 2-3 years ago) it'd be a lot smaller than army of darkness and probably do it in Michigan.

Apparently, Oldsmobile makes an appearence in Drag Me To Hell. Plus:

Apparently Bruce was supposed to be in it as well but the filming schedule conflicted with filming for his tv show.

Which ending from army of darkness are they going to use? iirc there was one when ash ended up in a post apocalyptic future or something like that, that would be pretty cool.

That was the original ending. The studio didn't like it though and they changed it to the one where Ash gets attacked by a Deadite at S-Mart.

Yeah, Raimi's preferred cut, the DC, has that ending. It's about 10-15 min longer than the theatrical cut I think.

If anything Raimi will handle the story like he did the last two films, by simply retelling the events of the previous chapter. Personally, if they end up making a 4, I would love for the first third to be a retelling of ED1/2, the 2nd third in Medieval times and the last third in a post apocalypse setting. And loose the gauntlet. Chainsawhand and sawed off double barrel all the way.

Fuck! now I *really* want to watch Evil Dead, but I've only got it on VHS.

Though, I suppose that may only add to the charm of the film.

AV Club: In your opinion, is Ash worthy of more movies?
Quote from: Bruce Campbell
No. I think there should be an end to everything. I mean, did anyone really want Indiana Jones 4? The answer is no. I’ve taken a poll in about seven theaters now. Of 300 people, three hands go up. You are bound to disappoint. I would rather disappoint with a brand new original movie. People worship Army Of Darkness, and God bless them for it. It’s a beautiful thing. The movie bombed when it came out, and not many people are aware of that. Twenty years later, the thing has picked up speed, and it’s on American Movie Classics now. That was a long time ago, and whatever we do next will always be compared to Army Of Darkness, and I don’t see how we can win. You make that movie, and I can tell you the quote right now, “Oh, it’s not quite as good as Army Of Darkness.” Then we would have gone through immense physical pain and anguish to bring something out that ultimately disappointed. That’s really not what I’m into these days.

...I have nothing but good will toward the Evil Dead movies, and the same with Sam Raimi, but he’s signed on to do more Spider-Man. I’m in a TV show, and I signed a multiple-year contract. If they want me back, I have to go back. That’s probably why you haven’t seen a sequel or remake from Evil Dead yet.
not that I doubt that Bruce Campbell wouldn't find some way to make it happen if some sort of mega-budget, Raimi penned and directed Evil Dead film were to be made, but as Cheebs said...
I'll believe it when he actually starts filming it.

Yeah, it's not like Burn Notice won't take a hiatus.  Also, Burn Notice rocks and Campbell is a total badass in it.

Sam Axe is now my third favorite Bruce character, behind Ashley J. Williams and Brisco County Jr.

Eh even if it is shitty it will be still a lot of fun, Bruce Campbell could make anything entertaining with his charisma. He's still got that touch as shown by his awesomeness in Burn Notice.
