Battles mang, in this one it looks as though they are attack one after the other where in VP you could chain attacks better.

It's just as fluid. Notice howthe girl misses because the enemy is in the air. VP is just as fluid in the same aspect. VP DS > VP 1 & 2

I think the permadeath is part of the game. The game is about Wylfred, who wants revenge against Lenneth because she took his father but left his sister to die. Wylfred dies in the beginning of the game, but is revived by an obvious evil being who forms a pact with him with some sort of covenant. During the game, you get the choice on sacrificing people to gain power to defeat Lenneth. I think this is the permadeath involved.

In order to get the good ending, you dont use the feather. Otherwise, feel free if you want the normal or bad endings.

Ok, I played a little more.

In each level, you have a SIN counter. You increase Sin by doing Overkills and dealing extra damage. You can also get Sin by using the feather on a person. If you reach the amount of Sin required, you get bonus goodies.

You can only have 4 people out at a time (A B X Y). You can set the people up in formations to deal extra damage and have bonuses - as you can see in that video.

There are towns that you can buy new equipment and items at. You can buy skill books that when used, you can equip them and they activate when you start a fight. Some examples are to direct attacks to one person, make the enemy not that person attack, or randomly gain half the HP from the damage they deal.

I dont think they're really connected as much as VP -> VP2 was
