Jesus Christ, there's this nasty tearing happening in the middle of the screen, it's like it's gonna cut my eyes in half.

I have a great PC. This game just doesn't have a V Sync option.

it's actually a very good port, comes with a new game+ mode and a super hard unlockable difficultly level. Also looks REALLY nice.

use nhancer to enable AA per usual for UE3 games

also has the steam DRM aids, but in this case I'll look past it since it's been FOREVER since I've played a JRPG and this looks like a combination of stat-heavy mechanics and low-plot overhead that I can deal with (in constrast to the SO4 thread where the youtube links made me want to die inside).

I downloaded the "shareware" version to see how it would run since the benchmark wouldn't even start with my QUAD-SLI setup.

Apparently, the bugs have been fixed and it was running at 180 FPS with everything maxed out at 1920x1200.  There weren't any apparent glitches and the game was already configured to work with a 360 controller.

I dunno if the game's any good but at least they did a good job of porting it.

IGN says 6.8

:teehee

Never got why the press has been so hard on the game.  They're like "great game, but the story didn't grab me = 6.8".  Yet they give jrpgs with awful storylines like Eternal Sonata 8s.

I would give it a 6.8 because of no achievements

X360 version = 10.0

From the review:

Quote
And since the general style and trappings of single-player Japanese RPGs aren't seen that often on the PC in North America, something like The Last Remnant takes on a kind of originality simply because of its rarity, even if its setup is a far cry from more original and interesting modern genre entries like Namco Bandai's Eternal Sonata.

I can't believe they said that. Will buy on the cheap from Steam or something. No time to play something like this atm.

PC RPG reviewers are some of the oddest reviewer stock this side of nintendo fansites. Between the rpgcodex/no mutants allowed style troglodytes, the Bioware humpers, the JRPG transplants, and the Morrowind/Oblivion fans, it's only about a 50/50 shot at best that a reviewer will actually approach the genre with anything resembling a holistic assessment instead of nitpick barrage.

Seems like the perfect sort of JRPG for the PC from where I'm at. I'm gonna pick it up tomorrow morning with BATTLEFORGE ( :bow Phenomic :bow2 ) tomorrow if they are in stock at the local shop.
