Can someone identify which model 360 this is?
« on: March 25, 2009, 03:15:56 PM »
I got a return system that is, according to the casing, rated for 16.5A, but it uses a 175w power supply. It also has hdmi, and the manufacturing date printed on the casing is 2007-10-25. I've checked for system types online, and this blend doesn't mesh with anyone mentioned on that site. Is this a common refurb mix or something?

I have two working systems right, but I need to ship one out, so I have to gamble on which one to keep. The other one has a similar manufacturing date, uses 203w power supply and is rated at 16.5A.

The 175 is the Falcon, keep that one. The 203 is an older model and is likely doomed.

I had a 175w model that died after a week, so the 203w model is already proving to be more reliable. The confusing thing is the 16.5A rating on the case of the 175w model.

i'm pretty sure they all have that rating? the important change was the wattage

The way I've understood it, unless I've become mixed up in the time since I bought my 360 in December, was that it went like this:

203W went with 16.5A (Xenon/Zephyr)
175W went with 14.2A (Falcon)
150W went with 12.1A (Jasper)

You could use a higher wattage brick with a lower amp rating, but not the other way around. duckman's mix has me all confused, too.

Yeah, it's an odd configuration. Maybe they just reused the case and put a Falcon board in there? Seems like a dodgy thing to do, that's why I'm wondering if maybe it's common among refurbs.
