What big news could there be for this game? We already know its coming this year and will be multiplatform, and that it will be the greatest multiplayer game of all time.

WaW is probably the last COD I'll buy. It's one map pack and then "NEW GAME GUYS PACK IT ALL IN".

Treyarch will release more map packs.

I really hope the "megaton" isn't MW2. Everyone already has a pretty clear idea of what the game will be and we haven't even seen it yet.

Oh yeah? I'm still waiting on COD4 maps that were talked about. As soon as they announce MW2 tonight, Treyarch will begin work on World  at War 2 and they'll announce that later this year. I know how Activision operates.

They have a lot of maps that were almost done still in the PC version, people dug through it and found them. 3 of them were the first DLC packs. The lack of packs for Modern Warfare was more of Infinity Ward not wanting to work on more of them than it was Activision not wanting easy money. These things sell like fucking hotcakes for $10 a pop. Either way, what is the big deal about not releasing a bunch of new maps? The game is already loaded with maps and modes.

Also, didn't Activision already confirm this title in December and announce the fall release?

IT HAPPENED BEFORE! And as I'm told it'll happen again.

It happened with Diablo 1 on the PSX and published by EA. Ironically, it was more fun than the PC one due to the controls.

It looks like it has an airport.  More video games need to be in airports, so I'm excited to at least see that level.  If they don't change gameplay, then it's another game I'll buy for the excellent multiplayer.

Yeah, unless they change this I'm done with the franchise.  I was really tired of endless waves by the end of CoD4 and I still have no desire to even start playing CoD5, let alone CoD6.

I like the feel and look of MW, so if they CHILL a bit on 300 guys coming out of a hallway I'll be down for MW2.

There's more that needs to be changed, or updated. The canned death animations and lack of hit response isn't a critical issue, but it works better in MP than SP. It would be nice if they eased up just a bit on the scripted enemy "tactics" and actually tried something a bit more dynamic. And drop the theme park ride stuff and let me take more direct part in the cooler sections, like rappelling, kicking down doors and dealing with field prisoners.

The MP can be a COD4 clone with new weapons for all I care, I'm fine with that. Maybe real clan support and optional larger games, but it's so good the way it is.

As for the trailer, sounds like a terrorist attack/siege. :bow Call of Rainbow Six: Modern Tactics :bow2

Edit: I'd totally buy an arcade style COD for Wii, though. Hell, make it a rail shooter.

Oh come on, that would be hot. Then they could focus squarely on the scripted encounters that they are so good at, without presenting players with ridiculous invisible barriers. Make it all SMG combat, too.

needs a clint eastwood Grand Torino (tm) mode, would then be must buy.

In all seriousness, one of the really nice things about games like COD is that they actually can hit on themes of modern warfare without having to deal with the messy Cold War politics and posturing that drove most of the decisions of said wars. I'd really like to see Call of Duty give a take on the Vietnam or Korean Wars, as there are some really nice settings for some video gaming in those wars (Chosin Reservoir and the ensuing retreat, Hue, etc) that would go comfortably into COD's themes.

No. See, Treyarch will begin doing modern games.

I don't know why sc-fi games can't be made. Give me laser guns, space shields, and perks that drop meteors from the sky.

"Our recon spaceship is activated!"
"Our attach mech is online!"

Come one Activision, give it to meeeee. Be cool for once.
It would play exactly the same, though.  There is no variation in the series and how the skirmishes are designed.  Everything is completely scripted and battles rely on a spawning enemies rather than AI based opponents.  There's nothing dynamic or interesting about the situations they throw you into and that's a real shame.

Retitling it is probably for the better.  WaW had a very original campaign compared to the last CoD's but a lot of the changes/improvements and gore just wouldn't work in a modern day setting. This way IW and Treyarch can go in their own directions with the multiplayer and the campaign.

I'm guessing that MW2 will be a more tactical shooter.  Not like the Tom Clancy game but it won't let you burn the forests down like in WaW.

Pretty much.

But that would require both teams putting out a game every year, rather than the pace of every other that they are currently on.  Or maybe there will only be one of either in a given year.

I dont know about this. The Dogs are annoying and the weapons arent balanced at all. Most people use submachie guns. Nobody uses Rifles unless its snipers in large stages.

Perks are neat, and vehicles are fun but i dont know if id put it at a higher level than COD4

Looking at FPS games as a whole, it isn't an issue.  But you understand what I'm saying right? Following the same pattern as WaW being COD4 reskinned, it will be insanely ridiculous and would probably kill sales of one of the series.
I guess what I'm saying is that I really don't think it would matter. COD being the 1940s themed map pack for MC isn't going to be an issue for the buying public.
