I've already spilled like 15,000 words on why I think the ending wasfine, but it boils down to this: If you were watchig the show for a Lost-style dose of mythology and cunning plot, you were in the wrong place all along. It was a 100% character-based production and the real strength of the show lie in it's allegorical capabilities. Every character got a satisfying ending- I agree that the GOD DID IT ending can feel cheap, but that's the nature of faith. God comes to us in weird places and very suddenly. It's not a mistake that common prayer is to "Help us to see you". I loved it. I thought it was brave, not dumb. But again, I wasn't watching to find out ZOMG WHO IS THE 75TH CYLON.

That said, the last 5 minutes are as bad as the end of AI. Fuck that shit.

I quit after Season 2, very happy with the place that ended for some reason. When Warren Ellis started describing how much whiny crying everyone was doing in Season 3, I just stayed away. My interest piqued again when they announced It Will End, but I'm just waffling on when to pick it up. Right now Stargate SG-1 is getting some priority.

It's still worth finishing. The first few episodes of S3 are some of the best of the series

Probably no one, the Blu-ray set was like $400 when it first came out.

Personally, introducing a deux ex machina into the finale seemed a weak resolution, bit I have no quams with anyone who has an opinion one way or another, I'm mostly on the fence. Theology was a long standing theme from the beginning, but just believing in something doesn't make it so. I never expected it to be the ultimate plot string wrappup, I was hoping for something more. Still the show from the start has always been Mormonism...IN SPACE! just also very well made by peeps that enjoyed reveling in grey areas.
