My office laid off around half of our employees this morning. Today was terrible. I'm safe, but we're now on a skeleton crew and my workload will pretty much double. They took my helper.
I think this is the first time I've been in a position to know beforehand that half of the people I have seen on a daily basis for years only have a few days left. It really messed with me. This past weekend was pretty drunk.
I'm happy to still be employed (especially in the current environment), but man, today killed me.
I wonder if HR people feel like this all the time...
