Yeah, money is a good thing. Interesting that SE isn't listed at the bottom of the site. I wonder if they're breaking free?

Good thing there's no SE involved, otherwise there wouldn't be a Ps3 version.

Does MS have a deal with SE or what? Why the hell would SE only support the X360 with their jrpg's? Especially in Japan, where the Ps3 version of the games would sell 5 times better...

Some shady shit.

Only FFXIII and FFVersusXIII come to mind.

The first one being multiplatform.

SE has sucked shit so far this generation anyway.

Of course there's an exclusivity deal.  PS3 software hasn't been lighting up the charts either, chief, at least in Japan.

Still doing much better than the X360.
I bet Star Ocean IV would've sold 500k in Japan by now, if it were a Ps3 release...
The game is pretty big in Japan.  But it bombed in Japan and in NA.

IU was initially produced by Microsoft and they co-own the IP, TLR was supposed to be multiplatform/simultaneous but SE's programmers had a hard time with UE3 on PS3, SO4 who knows.

the conspiracy theories are pretty odd seeing as SE's flagship franchise is still PS first/only.

Dragon Quest is on Nintendo platforms now, though.  And FFXIII is multiplatform.  Kingdom Hearts is anyone guess, but I'm thinking PS3 or at least multi platform.  Only VS is still PS exclusive.  I'm thinking it will go multi as well when it is all said and done.

SE has been a disaster this generation on the console front.  Capcom is still schooling all the Japanese devs this gen with its platform agnostic approach.

I don't know if it's just technical issues that are plaguing SE and other J-RPG developers.  They appear to be stuck in a quagmire because Japanase gamers want more of the traditional J-RPG gameplay while Western gamers seem to have gotten tired of it.

Crystal Tools? They seemed to bank their total multiplatform development on it. Wasn't it massively retooled at one point? (or still heavily in development at the start of the generation?).

One thing thats horrible, after reflecting over it, is that game content in tri-Ace games seem to have taken a hit. Sure you've got the standard post game dungeon and all but it didn't feel as rich as their PS/PS2 efforts.

There were rumors, but I don't think much is known outside SE about CT development.

The only recent tri-Ace game I've played (am playing now) is Valkyrie Profile DS.  Which is pretty good so far.

To me the issues this gen are the art style, stories, characters and voiceovers.

I don't really care if the battle system is cool if I have to deal with horrible voice acting and a bunch of loli shit for 30+ hours. Looking at older RPGs that I liked, they were always much better stylistically than what I've seen this gen. Vesperia looks alright, but I have next to no interest in SO4, IU or Eternal Sonata because of shit like the dinner dance and that scene in SO4 with the winged chick trying to fly.

Not mention the loli shit.
those are some rose tinted glasses you're wearing. I am going to leave the art style out of it since that is pretty subjective and I partly agree with it, but the stories, character, and voiceovers? Those have sucked in JRPGs for some time. And calling out the dinner dance? there is weird shit like that in plenty of older RPGs

Awesome, just when I was beginning to think no more RPGs would come out on next-gen systems after FFXIII.

We could use a new SMT (not Persona) game, something close to Nocturne thematically.

I'd prefer gameplay more like Digital Devil Saga, but SMTIII would work, too.

Looks really cool, definitely gives me a SH vibe... but I can't make out exactly what's going on with the battle system. Looks action/thrd person shooter in style, which would kinda suck.  :-\

It says semi-realtime which gives some hope and some scare.  Hopefully it means like VP and not like SO/IU.  Tri-ace should stick to turn-based full-party control battle systems because they can't program AI worth a damn.

Same.  But at least Team Symphonia Tales games tend to have really good AI options and Persona 3 had good AI as well.

Why would you want them to rape your childhood memories.  Grab your game packages of Star Ocean 3/4 and write Phantasy Star 5/6 on them if you want that so much.

My whole issue with the Star Ocean games are the scenario writers (and writing in general), voice acting and pacing of the story. I'm perfectly fine the game mechanics. Though, I can see them making PS5 into Star Ocean lite or something.
