If you want original, interesting software you've selected the wrong platform. I still can't believe that you'd actually skip out on a high quality 2D platformer created with high quality sprites and painted backgrounds.
I agree that a lot of the interesting games are coming out on other platforms (need to try Flower, Braid [c'mon fucking Mac port], Mirror's Edge), but Wii has it's fair share of unique IPs. The amount of Wiimakes is a bit upsetting, I'll admit, but the one discussed in this thread is essentially a reboot for the series, starting at page one. So, uh: No More Heroes, LIT, LostWinds, MadWorld, de Blob (no, really), Boom Blox, Zack & Wiki, Excite Truck, Endless Ocean. All of these games (with the possible exception of de Blob) would be extremely different on any other platform. I understand that some of these games may lack whatever distinctions you find "hardcore," but they're still fun, which is that intangible quality that drives most consumers to games anyways.
But, yeah, I don't share the same opinions with EmCee. I don't mind spinoffs (even though the terms come to be a bit of a bad word) with mascots in 'em, as long as they're quality and implemented correctly. It's when Nintendo, or any company for that matter, obviously forces them into games that I get upset.
