And it has nothing to do with FoC's odd thoughts on politics. Soon as he declared Return of the Jedi his favorite movie of all time I think it ws time to ignore any further movie opinions.

Oh and the movie was so much fun. My theater was like  over 70% teenage girls which was odd. But they were constantly screaming and shouting which made it all the more entertaining. The scene in the graveyard was classic Evil Dead stuff. Loved all the crazy gross-outs.

Anvil on old's ladys head which makes here eyeballs pop out into the girls mouth? Awesome.

You love it. The plot is very forgettable but the crazy gross-out stunts are such classic Sam Raimi and the evolution of the girl from the innocent girly-girl to the over the top bruce campbell lunatic by the graveyard scene is like made personally for Willco.

It may be my favorite movie of 2009 so far.

Raimi's kind of big in Japan, so I hope it won't be a whole year before it comes out in theaters here. I remember being scared out of my wits of pencils after Evil Dead 1, and I saw ED2 and AoD in theaters; I really like Raimi best when he's operating on a limited budget. Even though I know he's got money in this, I hope it's a return-to-form.

Well compared to Spider-Man 3 which cost I think like 250 mil this is extremely low budget

Did they go in expecting a real horror film like the trailers are trying to sell it as?

It's the only group I can see being upset about the film.  Also the people who don't like gross stuff.

If it has any Raimi campiness, the ad campaign is really doing a bad job selling it. It looks like hardcore horror with maybe some melodrama in the office.

It literally has a scene where a suspended anvil is cut and smashes into someone's head with Looney Tunes-type physics.

I'm not kidding.

And its fucking awesome!

Yeah the movie is campy and over the top Raimi style stuff. I can't see how anyone would have expected it to be a normal horror movie though, i mean it's directed by Sam Raimi!

And yes the anvil scene is amazing. Eyeballs shooting into her mouth... :lol

I don't know what they walked in expecting. It was two girls though, so probably the gross stuff got to them. Or the fact that it was awful.

Why would they leave for a reason that is factually untrue? That just doesn't make any sense.

Saw it this afternoon, great film. Lots of campy, hilarious moments (funeral scene, graveyard, anvil). Sam Raimi redeemed after SM3.

Fucking loved it! Best thing Raimi has done not named A Simple Plan. Liked it better than any of the Evil Deads or S-M flicks. I was losing my shit when the old lady started gumming Lohman  :lol Best mix of horror, comedy, and camp in a while.

I didn't think it was as good as Evil Dead 2&3. For me, it lacked the charisma that Bruce Campbell brought to those movies.

Same here. I really liked Drag Me To Hell but the Evil Dead series edges it out with Campbell, atmosphere and non CGI effects.

Not really, it's just a little messier. Like, for instance, the scene with the bloody nose now includes her vomiting blood from her mouth as well.

... It really just goes to show that he wasn't aiming for an R-rating in the first place, though.
