First episode was actually a decent starter ep. The animation was good, pacing was kept brisk, and the music was pretty decent. Next episode seems to be when the story actually starts with Ed and Al's backstory. Looking forward to seeing how they handle that.

i quite liked the first series.

It's the show again with different staff and a story that will get more and more different as it goes. It's also (based on the first ep) made for people who've already seen the first show, so it shouldn't feel too much like a retread.

I think I liked the first series resurrection event better. I also hope we get to see more about how ed became a state alchemist as those were some of my favorite episodes.

Ya it gives no time to build a relationship with the characters. I felt that way about the resurrection part too. I guess it's better that they don't spend all their time redoing things that were nearly perfect in the original though.

Yeah, I'm hoping the pacing slows down once we get to the manga stuff. Right now its going pretty fast, which is fine since most have seen this already in the original anime. But I think it would be lame if they blow through some of the manga stuff.

The pacing is fine, the manga is actually the same way. This is what happens when you go for a page-to-page adaptation instead of adding and fleshing stuff out like most manga adaptations. The Original anime series was like 60% filler. The only filler in this so far has been the first episode, and a few scenes in episode 3.

duckroll thinks that Bones just isn't taking the show serious right now because they are rushing through the old stuff they already animated and once they get to new material they'll do a better job.

My main problem with the new show is lack of dramatic impact and lack of style. It's just very by-the-books like Bleach/Naruto/OP. The previous FMA anime had a lot of style and was really dramatic and depressing at times. Hopefully the new one gets better.

I'm at episode 34 now and so far mixed feelings.

really loved the start up to episode 25 then dumb sensei happened and her coughing blood every fucking minute and distinguished mentally-challenged shota homoblah blah blah.

and my god, Ed and Al really need some fucking powerup, they were like...only strong for two episodes, them getting owned in every fucking episode is getting old.

this better get real soon.
