I dunno, most of the contraption images were of the hidden blade, although they did have DaVinci's wing drawing at the end. In any case since they used a number of his sketches, he'll obviously figure in the game somehow.

The game is going to be missing a huge opportunity if the Borgias do not figure into the game prominently. The Borgia pope alse ruled during Columbus's voyage to america, so there's your twist ending.

Well but i'm sure guns are gonna be used in the combat of the game. One of the things i most loved in AC was badass the up close and personal combat, was.

Guns were incredibly rare and it took like 5 minutes to shoot one and they were grossly inaccurate. From a game mechanics perspective, they'd be little different than a bow and arrow, which, iirc, were still more popular at the time.

There were rumours that Ubisoft were showing an AC2 trailer to small groups for market research or whatever, and it was set in 15th or 16th century Venice. I think it would be a kick-ass setting.

Yeah, I just want something less serious yet immensely dark. Maybe not from these guys, but the world needs an Assassin's Guild game. I felt like Fable 2 approached it a little, but it stopped well shy of the target.

AC combat was pretty good for the most part. Fable 2 did something similar, just a lot less ambitious.

Fable 2 had a level 5 fire spell. Actual sword combat was, well, superfluous. But at least several enemies attacked you at once, and you couldn't rely on surrounding enemies to be as shortsighted and dimwitted as to make hiding in plain sight a valid tactic.

The thing about AC was that the platforming was perfect but every other gameplay mechanic felt a little rushed. I know it's a game mostly about running (away) but hopefully they fix those problems in the sequel.

Will probably be my GOTY though anyways. Not that that means much considering how few great games there are this year.

If they can force the player to use more of the combat strategies that would be cool. When fighting offensively, swapping weapons, and just countering when required, the combat in AC got really fast and intense. Fighting defensively was OK and got the job done, but it meant a lot of standing around. I think a lot of people just played like that.
I can't believe the dude in that vid didn't chase down the stragglers with the hidden blade.

and while the combat looked cool, i REALLY hope they make it a bit harder. on my first trip to a major city i fucked up and ended up killing about 40 guards in one battle before i even walked through the gates. a situation like that should be totally unwinnable imo. i'd also like to see more complicated setups for the hits, because when i fucked those up charging in and slashing everyone in sight always worked too, unfortunately.

I still would like to see this new game present a mix of Thief and the original Assassin's Creed. Imagine something like Life of the Party within this game world. I think the missions need much more focus and design. They need to create scenarios and areas specifically for missions (ala Thief). The open world should serve as the backdrop for the missions.

The first one sucked.

Setting and graphics were incredible. Everything else was repetitive garbage.

Good combat? Really? All you did was watch a group of enemies circle around you until one of them attacked then you'd counter and kill them. Or if no one attacks you begin attacking to find one that wouldn't block and then you kill one that way. Rinse and repeat.

I have this concept in my head, a take on At the Mountains of Madness where you have the Assassin Creed engine that allows you to scale the mountainside, the ancient architecture and basically just explore the landscape as laid out in the writing. It'll be almost like a survival horror but built completely around exploring and finding out more about this race of beings. The character could be some modern day Historian.

Like Shadow of the Colossus without the shitty story and teenage Nickelodeon time maze final boss.

Just jump around. You can do keys to the city and basically get all the goods from the start (and not have to deal with multiples of the same basic mission), but I found a lot of satisfaction in becoming increasingly powerful and being able to reach objects that were previously unattainable. It's pretty basic stuff, but the actual platforming aspect is what sells it. Well, for some.

Yeah, I was gonna put "extremely minimal" in regards to some mechanics. I kind of find myself bored by juggling a lot of shit in game, something that just has you exploring (a la the games you listed) would be a breath of fresh air.

I'm hoping Alan Wake does this to some extent.
