"On April 6th, Wizards of the Coast took all of their PDF products offline, including those sold at third-party websites like RPGNow.com. From the RPGNow front page: 'Wizards of the Coast has instructed us to suspend all sales and downloads of Wizards of the Coast titles. Unfortunately, this includes offering download access to previously purchased Wizards of the Coast titles.' Wizards of the Coast also posted a press release to their website that states they are suing eight file sharers for 'copyright infringement,' and WotC_Trevor posted a short explanation about the cessation of PDF sales to the EN World Forums."

Searchable and well-indexed digital format for this stuff is such a great compliment to the physical product. Why are they clamping down on their stuff getting passed around via filesharing? It just gets more people interested in D&D, which in turn will drive revenue since you really do want a hardcopy of the books as well if you're a player.

Strange.

They should make the Player's Handbook and DM Guide free on their website. Just charge for everything else.

Wasn't that sort of their strategy with the D20 stuff?  Their 4th Edition strategy is to release like a new Player's Handbook every couple months with different classes in them and shit.  It's like they've even kinda applied WoW's strategy of money milking to text itself.

I wouldn't want nerd books in digital format anyway.

I bought AD&D books for their packaging & art as much as for their contents.

And Dave Arneson died on the 7th.  A bad week for DND.
