it's really short though.  I'm like 5 hours in and there's only maybe a couple of hours left.  Worth a rental though if you didn't play Butcher Bay.

Started playing Far Cry 2 again, trying to finish it off, but I got stuck tracking down a case of diamonds. Thinking about starting up RE5, but I'll probably just end up playing the RF Guerrilla demo again.

Taking a break from SO4 I guess.  I got to disc 3 on Thursday or something and I haven't felt like putting the disc in since.  Not that I totally hate it or anything, I want to finish it up and move to another console game...it's just I haven't felt ready to give 4-5 hour sessions which is about the only way things get done in SO4.

So I've just been playing World Destruction and I got to the point all the importers told me about where the game mechanics essential STOP WORKING and it's the most broken rpg ever made.  You get the ability to do 40 hit combos for insane damage when on the ground, but not for the air or your magic or anything.  In short what this means is I fought a boss that seemed impossible.  It was like a 10-20min boss fight and ridiculously difficult to the point of being cheap and unbeatable without tons of grinding.  Then I got the game-breaker ability and fought the same boss and killed him in 2 turns with just my main character.  Both turns his single attack string did 60% of the boss's HP, whereas through normal attacking 1 turn would do like 5%.  So yeah, game is totally broken now but kinda fun.  Dungeon design is terrible though, super mazey.  Supposedly the US version is getting changes.

Super Mario Sunshine for some reason

I'm amazed by how horrible this camera is.  I mean, I remember having problems with it, but it's really incredibly bad.

sacred 2

So is this worth it?  I saw a trailer for one of the console versions and it was just awful-looking, but also looked unfinished as hell (at least I hope it was unfinished).  Was looking forward to it until then.

Probably not unless you get some weird enjoyment from playing games that you know are bad.  I'm pretty sure Prole gave it a 5/10 when I asked him.

I also heard on a podcast that the game is really unpolished and probably not worth the time unless you absolutely love Diablo clones.

I have two acts left on RE5. I think I'm going to plow through them quick later tonight, do a little Mercs, and then take it back to Blockbuster tomorrow. I got a free month of Gamepass so I want to get the most out of it. Think I might get either Fiddy or Riddick next.

I just finished the new Chronicles of Riddick game and I think that Dark Athena is actually the better campaign but both of them are very good.  The Dark Athena campaign just has better story-telling, no trial & error choke points, and they also toned down the amount of fetch quests which got really annoying in EFBB.  I also LOVED the Ulaks and SCAR gun.  In general, you spend more time feeling like an invisible killing machine in Dark Athena.

It was about 25 hours to finish both campaigns.  The voice-acting is probably the best that I can remember on the current consoles.

sacred 2 is actually pretty damn polished, and the 2.4 patch adds the new 360/ps3 ui as well as some nice performance cleanup all around. it's certainly far less busted/broken than the original sacred, in terms of bugs and technical issues. (the 2.4 patch also added in achievements.)

the problem is that class balance is utterly broken -- playing a "mystic stormite" (lol wat) spec high elf is an easy button in all modes, sp and mp. glacial thorns three shots bosses after nerf, instead of simply one-shotting them. on the other hand, playing a "cabalistic voodoo" (lol x2) spec dryad means one helluva brutal slog. there's also some nasty terrain mazes which are a complete bear to navigate, especially in the seraphim isles/dragon caves areas.

i've almost beaten it as a high elf and it's been really bipolar. I had a lot of fun in the last third, which is really pretty and largely linear, but the middle is an endless slog through maze-like caves and the most boring desert region since breath of fire 3.

ultimately, i give it like a 7 out of 10. it is better than killzone 2 and street fighter 4, of course.

There were no copies of Fiddy so I got Riddick. It's not really blowing my mind.

Started up Gears of War 2 again, it's better than I remember it being, and the levels after the worm have been pretty incredible looking. I think I'm playing it on the wrong difficulty though. Also getting a bit tired of the action movie moments, feels a bit MGS-y at times.

Still in EQII. Was exploring Greater Faydark today and was whacked over the head with nostalgia when I ran into this:

I've mainly been XBLA-ing.  I like XBLA games because they require less effort than real games and I don't have to get up and change discs.

I think I've hit my skills limit in Pacman CE.  I can't get below 2 mins on Extra 5 min mode.  I get to the set where there are NO LOVELY GHOST-EATING BIG DOTS and I get totally killed by the fast ghosts by that point.  Not sure how much longer I'll keep playing this game.  Love it, but might be about done with it.

I'm a lvl.21 mage in Puzzle Quest now that I've picked it back up again.  Been playing on hard mode for the +25% exp bonus to try to level as fast as possible but it still takes forever to gain levels.  Might keep playing until I finish the story mode, might bail at any time.  Depends on how cheap the bosses/enemies are.  I finally got really good with my red mage and I'm destroying the hell out of everything which is why I moved to hard in the first place (besides the exp bonus).  No castle can withstand my siege, no monster can match me, I'm just taking out things left and right.  One thing I HATE about this game is the random encounters on the map that you have to get through when traveling.  Especially if they are easy, it's just a waste of 5-10 mins.  I wish I could just run past them for the cost of some gold or something.

Outrun is great.  Almost finished seeing all the locations, getting to all the ends.  Then I'll try the different modes.  Would play some online matches, but none of my local friends have the game so unless there is an EB match or something I'll skip online.  I don't enjoy gaming against strangers.

Then just playing World Destruction for my main rpg atm.  I got to the Masato Kato plot twist that's in every rpg he writes (Chrono Cross's body change with catman, Baten Kaitos's zomg you are the villian all along, etc...) so I'm guessing I'm about 60% through the game.  Game has a lot of problems, but the 2d is real pretty and considering the DS is not that strong in non-port/remake rpgs, it's a solid original rpg title for the system.

I'm also playing a little bit of Strongbad ep4 on the pc here and there when I have my home theater pc going and I'm watching movies/anime.  It's good but I'm a little burnt out on adventure gaming after going through like a dozen point n' click games last month.  I've got plenty of time before Wallace & Gromit ep2 comes out though, so I'll probably finish Strongbad 4/5 & Wallace 1 before then.

Fuck, World Destruction is totally broken again and went from killing everything 1 hit to impossibly hard and I have to run from battles because of a stupid thing that happened storywise.  My party is going to suck for a bit and this is going to take some patience >_<  I'll be really curious to how fixed the balance changes are to the US version.  With the right changes (plus more music tracks) this could be a real good game.

Finished Gears 2, pretty hot game, although the constant interruptions and many scripted and "on rails" scenes made it feel a bit disjointed. Also not sure what to make of the story. There's more of it, but there weren't a whole lot of answers to the new questions.
