Football= A game where you hit your FOOT with the BALL.

American "Football" doesn't even utilize the foot that much.  And we're the crazy ones?

Rugby is manlier, no protection. And the name isn't  an attempted plagarism of a popular sport, due to lack of skills in said sport.
