Twin Peaks sounds exactly like the type of show I'd love but I've never watched it because most fans said that the series ended terribly.

it's final episode is actually pretty awesome, there's just a long stretch in season 2 that's unwatchable.  It's still worth seeing for sure.

Season 1 boxset or the gold box complete series?

If it is the season 1 set DO NOT WATCH IT. It doesn't have the 2 hour length pilot and the show makes no sense without it.

They don't show that on the pilot on the dvd, that was just in the international pilot.

The show is still watchable without the pilot. All you need to know is Laura Palmer has been found dead and it's up to pie eating, coffee drinkin Agent Cooper to find out who done it. If you have to see the pilot make sure you stop about 10 minutes before it ends otherwise the following episode really won't make sense.

The first 30 minutes of Fire Walk With Me is pretty fucking awesome though - and the scene where Laura enters the picture she hung up on the wall still creeps me out.  But I agree that the rest of the movie is a trainwreck.  Not having Laura Flynn Bolye as Donna really makes it useless.

Yeah, you don't really need to see the pilot to get the series.  For years, that's how people watched the series, before the internet came along and made the bootleg common.

I can go to Snoqualmie/North Bend to take pictures for you fegs, too.  It' s kinda convenient because my drug dearer is in Fall City, which is sorta on the way if you take the scenic route.

And I just finished watching the Pilot, nothing seemed spoiled. The pilot ended up putting a couple of people in a certain light and ended with someone with gloves picking up the other half of Laura's Heart necklace.

Unless I'm not seeing something, I can be dense when it comes to TV mysteries. I guess that's a good thing when it comes to spoiling myself  :-\

It really fucking sucks that I bought the season 1 box set in 2001 without the pilot.  Now I gotta pay for the gold box if I want it on DVD, which would be the third time I've bought this series.  *sigh*

Anyone know of any alternatives to this?  Where I can I download it from?

Plus the pilot is probably one of the best episodes of the entire series, it's worth owning just to have that on dvd awesome etras aside. Also iirc the picture quality and the like were cleaned up for the gold box release.

Season 2 does get pretty bad, but man those last 2 episodes.  JESUS CHRIST. Makes it all worth it.

the bad episodes still have this Lynch-ian quirk to them that makes them fun to watch though.  It's just all awkward since a lot of the actors on the show either aren't that great or had a hard time delivering the weird script :lol

So its generally considered that the Second season isn't as good as the first?

It does a lot of the interpersonal relationship stuff, but everything that's hinted at kinda comes down on you like a ton of bricks in the last episodes of season 2.

Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart are his two best IMO. Probably becuase theyre the least abstract and I find that more accessible and enjoyable. Call me a pleb. Mullholand Drive, Inland Empire and Lost Highway are all solid but fucking trippy/scary. Eraserhead is an unwatchable turd

I think Mullholand Dr is the best personally.  Wild at Heart has its moments like the Sherlyn Finn car crash scene but my intense hatred of everything Nicholas Cage taints it for me and I saw Blue Velvet AFTER I watched Twin Peaks so it didn't hit as hard as it probably would've if I saw it before.  Mullholand Dr though is fucking brilliant.  First time through it seems like another typical meaningless mindfuck like Lost Highway or Inland Empire but once you figure out what's actually going on it all makes perfect sense....well, 'cept for maybe the very last scene.

After you're done with the TP series you should watch Fire Walk With Me even if 3/4 of the movie is a turd.  Laura walking into her painting is some of the creepiest shit Lynch has ever filmed, imo.

Blue velvet, wild at heart are the most accessible.
Mulholland Drive is pretty accessible after the first time watching it.
Lost Highway is moderately accessible, but remains pretty complicated after repeated viewings.
Eraserhead is fucked.
Inland Empire is completely fucked.

I love them all about the same (some of my favorite films ever)

I still have yet to see Dune and Straight Story.

and I envy you Blue Tsunami!  Just don't read anything about these films before watching them.  it's best if they surprise you.  They all have twists and hooks that people will be talking about a lot online.

Just got through S2E8. Laura's killer has apparently been revealed. I'm guessing that this is where the show takes a turn for the worse?

I really wish I could go back in time to 1990 and bang Audrey.

I forget how many episodes are in the second season...it gets pretty kooky, showing how the whole thing has affected the town, along with some side stories.

but you have to keep watching.  The last two episodes are more than enough pay off for putting up with James Hurley, Andy and the secretary, etc. etc.

and yeah, jesus christ audrey is so incredibly hot :lol
