I just thought of this and checked wiki- they had 53 episodes and I'm pretty sure that the minimum is 50. So what's the big fuckin deal? Show was awesome, can't imagine I wouldn't flip to watch an episode if it was on.

I've seen reruns on G4 and HDNet and in syndication on CBC (Canada), not sure why it hasn't made it to generic American syndication.

I thought sitcoms, with some exceptions, generally need 100 episodes before they're syndicated. (It has been on syndication for a long time in Canada, on CBC.)

Anyway

I would think that Arrested Development's small fanbase, most of whom probably own the entire series on DVD (like me), would prevent the show from doing well on syndication. And arrested Development's story lines, which span entire seasons, aren't conducive to syndication.

The usual minimum number for syndication is 100 episodes, although there are exceptions (AD being one of them).

I got beaten. I remember this coming up when AD's fate was up in the air. If they hadn't cut any of the previous seasons short, they would have been almost guaranteed a fourth just because it would have taken them over the threshold.

The show wasn't exactly popular either. I doubt it would have had much traction in syndication as it's just the sort of thing that doesn't appeal to a broad base of viewers.

Yeah you don't need 100 episodes for syndication. Star Trek didn't have 100 episodes and it is still shown on network tv in syndicaiton to this day.

It is weird about AD, maybe because the show was so linear with most of the jokes dealing with previous episodes and the various arc's that stations may not feel it works well in the syndication format.

It was available in the free content when I messed around with Windows Media Player on the Xbox 360. I'm not sure how many seaons they offer.

I don't know about sitcoms, but not all shows need 100 episodes to be shown in syndication. Grey's Anatomy's 100th episode is just coming up in a few weeks, and it's been on syndication on Lifetime for a while now--maybe two years.
