Very chilling despite the farfetched premise, mediocre acting, low budget effects and British accents.

Definitely worth renting or downloading if you enjoy Horror films.

+1 for people who hate kids or are just naturally afraid of kids. 
+2 for parents.  You might never look at your kids the same way again.

I don't think it is. When I saw the trailer I couldn't help think how much it reminded me of the 80's one. Haven't seen the recent one yet, but the old one is good fun.

I thought this was boring, predictable, and uneventful, with nothing special to make it worthwhile.  I'd rather watch the last non-New Nightmare Elm Street flick.  Bad movie.

The Gate was like a weird kid's version of Evil Dead for me. When I was little the film always made me want an eyeball on the palm of my hand. Kid had a cool thing going for him but had to blow all away with his stupid rocket of magic.

Also avoid the sequel. I don't think it's been released on DVD but it's shit. Literally, the film is about the nerdy kid summoning one of the little demons and using it to make wishes. The catch is everything they wish for turns to shit after awhile.
