holy shit @ the ending

I had a nagging feeling early on that Tony was still a badguy, but it disappeared a long ass time ago. omfg  :o

S7 delivers :bow

But yea, maybe it was the nostalgia that got me. I've been watching the show for awhile, not as long as most die hard fans but still...I was dreading Kim's return only to start watering up the minute the buildup began

The ending was distinguished mentally-challenged. This show has been a parody of itself for the last few seasons.

And Elisha is a terrible actress.

When it comes to the Tony heel turn:

If anyone thinks it doesn't make sense or it dumb, well, you've probably blocked out everything from the shows past in your head. This Tony heel turn makes more sense and was foreshadowed better than any of the heel turns in the shows history. It makes a hell of a lot more sense than even Nina's turn in season 1.

They made it a point to show us Tony doing shady shit earlier when Jack was caught up with the White House drama. Then Tony comes back and says he has an source from Emersons crew? A source we've never seen? And we're never told what exactly he was doing the entire time and where he was? They were clearly setting it up for something to happen.
And his actions line up exactly with with what he's been doing this whole season. He originally joined Emerson to get back at the government. He turned informant for Bill and Chloe because they were doing stuff that would harm US citizens, which isn't what he wanted.
He helped Jack and the FBI because Hodges was going to try and kill US citizens. Now that the threat is gone he's going back to what he originally wanted - to hurt the government.

Right, Tony has real moral qualms about killing US citizens, which is why he didn't even hesitate to kill Moss (bububub he's part of the government).
Right, Tony has real moral qualms about killing US citizens, which is why he has a bio-weapon.

Unless he works for Hodges, which doesn't make sense, why would he have put his life on the line so many times--directly helping the US government.

that's exactly why he had no trouble with it.

no one knows what his purpose for having it is.

in the past when Dubaku was directly threatening US citizens Tony was right there trying to stop him. When it came to the White House drama? He sat in his car outside and let Jack do it himself. He offered no support.
When Hodges started threatening US cities? He got back in the mix. He cares about the country but not the government.

not much, but he was pretty indifferent about the entire situation. he let jack know about the threat so jack could stop Juma then buggered off for a few hours.

i'm not saying it's airtight or anything like that, but it makes more sense than a lot of the other turns we've seen. Plus Tony as a bad guy > Tony as a good guy

I doubt he plans on using the weapon. If anything he'll sell it or use the threat to blackmail the government. Clearly he isn't working with Hodges either, but instead him and the black guy are working for someone else which makes sense as Fistfull pointed out. I'm not entirely sure he has no qualms about killing innocent people.

I was starting to sorta kinda like Moss, but he was still annoying.

Also...Hodges has to be the dumbest villain in 24 history, and this president is almost worse than Logan. He's far too open with his plans, doesn't seem to care that there's no way this could possibly end well for him or his company, and puts his way in harm (ie sight) more than any 24 villain has. But this has been enabled by a shitty president. The fighter planes had more than enough time to destroy the missiles, which would have made most of the last episode not happen.

Oh Jesus, the Tony thing was foreshadowed like 5 episodes ago and was fucking confirmed when Larry told the other guy to take his handcuffs off.  This show is crap.

Of course, I'm still watching so there you go.  It's better than last season but still fucking tired as shit.

As predictable as it may have been, I loved Tony turning at the end of the episode. I'm not really that hardcore of a 24 fan (only seen the first and second seasons besides this one), but I'm really enjoying this season as a fun guilty pleasure.

I didn't find the end of S5 too surprising. I had always assumed Logan was involved with the assassination, but not directly in terms of OKing the thing; I figured he was just the puppet, which was kinda true iirc.

Card Cheat brings up a good point about the hand cuffs tho. Even after Moss told them to uncuff Tony I had no fucking idea he was gonna turn. I kinda expected him to make a run for it and escape custody.

I looked at some of the possible S7 spoilers...oh man. If true things might get crazy

Just because you didn't see it coming doesn't mean they didn't hint at it. If you go back you'll notice that his heel turns falls in line with the what we've already seen. I expect the next 6 episodes are going to be used to full explain his motives and hopefully set him up for next season... but I wouldn't be surprised if he gets killed.

I think its pretty obvious he's a for sale mercenary. He was going along with the government to land the weapon to sale for profit, basically, is my guess. The idiots who think the ending is illogical are just assuming he's the one completely behind starkwood and shit, when I think he's just a middleman trying to make profit.

You're smart. I got out at the end of Season 3
spoiler (click to show/hide)
when, by the end of it, they'd whacked Nina and Sherry Palmer. I said to myself, "Goodie! They killed off the only two characters where I really, really wanted to see some comeuppance. I can quit here!"

The thing wasn't so bad, but the actor who played the mastermind, whom I think has gone on to ruin The Dresden Files TV series, was SO INCREDIBLY BAD when he finally loses his mind at the end. His eye rolling and teeth gnashing was just so beyond the pale...

it'll be discovered that starkwood has been in a engaged in a clandestine war against a single greater evil pmc for the past few years who are bent on toppling the government. it would explain hodges thirst for power, maybe the locations he targeted, his "love for his country", the warning he gave to the president and knowing tony's hatred for the government, it wouldn't be far off from his agenda.

though this is how i would want it to turn out since it's the only logical explanation i can think of. i hope i end up being right or they have some really awesome explanation.

Best season of 24 ever.  It's really not debatable.  Anyone who says bububu Season 1 is just struck with nostalgia.  This is one of the greatest season's in television history.  What we're watching is the absolute pinnacle of this medium.  Enjoy it while it lasts.

The problem with the season is that we've seen so much of this drama before. Moles, Jack being framed, Jack clearing his name as agencies hunt him, "patriots" trying to attack the country, president being questioned/betrayed by her members of her cabinet, etc. But the biggest problem I've had is that the writers seem to alter characters to fit the story. Some of Jack's actions have been pretty dumb and blatantly meant to expand the plot to further depths of absurdity. Like allowing the senator to open his door late at night, which resulted in him being killed. Or taking that enormous chance by surrendering the president to Juma. Or finding out there's a mole in the WH and not looking into it at all. etc

The positive is that this season has been quite compelling and rather solid; each episode entertains. Even the early episodes with the FBI mole drama didn't annoy me too much.

Depending on the ending episodes, this could easily be the second or third best 24 season but we'll see.
