I'm going to have to give this game a fail. The UI is just too bad. Is there really no way to change equipment unless you are inside of the dungeon? I have tried every button in the item store and town and inn to no avail. What makes this even worse is that weapons don't have stats aside from the armor class modifier, so you have no idea whether the weapon you are buying will do more damage than the one you currently have equipped (aside from the price of the new weapon and an enigmatic class-by-class indicator that doesn't appear to make consistent sense).
There are other bad UI quirks. Why the reliance on the LR buttons to switch members? No big deal, but it's not a very good idea and it isn't very intuitive. Why is the item menu a crude scrolldown menu, like a list of commands, rather than something that makes efficient use of screen real estate? Why does the map blow compared to EO?
I love the art and the engine and the colors, but this is a rather questionably designed game, and not in the EO oldskool sense. I'd not pay for this one if I were you.
EDIT: Newly confirmed terrible design decisions:
-Enemy levels scale to yours, so grinding doesn't do much good.
-Possibly even worse, some prices scale as well.
