I never really got any of the bugs everyone talks about with FO3 (save for a few graphical glitches, but they didn't break the game)

it did crash on me a couple of times after autosaving, but that's it

I played Fallout 3 on the PC and I had lots of crashes. Broken quests. Broken path finding that broke quests, etc. Lots of and lots of weird bugs. The quick save is the thing that made it bearable. But then I've always had those problems in Bethesda games so honestly I just tend to look past it at this point sadly.

And true open world games always seem to have more bugs than more linear games due to all the variables.

Wow, this will probably work out perfectly.  I'm really enjoying Mass Erect 2, so I can probably just wait until some of these issues are fixed or modders get to it to play the game in a couple of weeks.  Awesomesauce, a winnar am me.

More technical problems than Fallout 3? Come on, son.

I've played it for like 10+ hours and never had a crash or framerate problems.Loading times are present, but similar to Fallout 3.
Entering the outside world works fine, they still have that system, enter building...longer loading...leave building...quick loading

Named my character "Bartolemeo" after the main character in the science fiction book "Ship of Fools". He's hispanic and I modeled him after Ritchie Valens, with glasses.

Game is awesome. Biggest change about it, it seems like a lot of the "junk" stuff you find in the game that didn't have a purpose in Fallout 3 has some sort of recipe it can be applied to here. Especially when you factor in cooking. I haven't ventured out yet but its cool walking around and knowing that you'll have to drink water at some point (there's watering holes in the area you start out in).

I like how gaf is now "booo" and yet when PS3 gets some DLC or something, everything is ok.

This is bullshit. And is the reason I never played Fallout 3  :'( I own a 360 and good PC now (didn't when Fallout 3 was released) but seriously, this exclusive DLC is absolute asshattery.

Sorry but that is the most stupidest reason for not playing the game. You might as well stop gaming because DLC(exclusive) is not going anywhere. Can't wait for next GTA and Elder Scrolls 5  to see some meltdowns.

EG review...9/10

Quote
It's lunchtime. I'm walking to the Post Office to post some packages. As I pass a small hardware shop, I remember that I've been meaning to get a shovel, and wonder if it's worth picking one up now.

Then I stop. Something about this unbidden thought sets off alarm bells. Why do I need a shovel again? It comes back to me: I need a shovel because I want to dig up the unmarked graves in the cemetery where I was shot in the head by a post-apocalyptic gangster to see if there's anything useful in them.

That's when I realise Fallout has dug its radioactive claws into me yet again.

4.5 hours in, here comes a report:

-Better than Fallout 3
-The world is much more interesting [with only a tiny fraction discovered]
-Writing and voice acting are a lot better
-Some minor technical issues [a guy I was fighting jumped a hundred feet in the air, some frame rate drops], but nothing major yet
-Feels like there's a lot more going on
-Hardcore mode isn't really a game-changer, but it definitely adds to the experience

First one - That ties into all the other things, really. It takes the very solid Fallout 3 foundation and builds on it.

Second one - Seem like there's more settlements with quests and NPCs, also it seems like there's more random things happening out in the wasteland [travelers wandering around involved in their own little lives]. Locations seem pretty cool too and there's always something close by to go check out. Quests seem more interesting from what I've seen so far.

Third one - In Fallout 3, everything just feels kind of insular except for a few areas. In New Vegas, you've got Caesar's Legions, the Powder Gangers, and NCR all roaming through the wasteland causing trouble and a lot of the settlements and people are getting caught up in it. Also, like I said, there's random people roaming around doing all sorts of weird/crazy things.

Golden Geckos are hilarious but also dangerously fast

Also the Cowboy Repeater (a fast action shotgun) is so fucking awesome. It isn't a unique weapon though, just a fast shotgun that can be pulled off enemies.

Also the "Legendary" weapons lore already seem more awesome than the ones in FO3. I've already got the Quest hook for one but don't have enough Science to go further.

Its actually much tougher in Hardcore mode. The biggest change that can trip one up is that Limb Damage cannot be healed via a stimpack, you either need a Doctors Bag and if you don't have that you need to find a Doctor. Shit can go south quick if you become disabled in some area and you don't have anymore Doctor Bags.

Also it seems like the level curve is less forgiving. I'm seeing some mean ass monsters straight from level 3 (like Giant Radscorpions and other monsters).

Those KMART pre-order coasters turned into a clusterfuck.  I brought the box along to show I'd pre-ordered it and they had no clue what to do with it.  They were ready to walk me outside and hand the game over FOR FREE before I began feeling guilty and explained the pre-order was only $5.

Since they're obviously not reserving anything for anyone, I think the coasters were intended to be purchased as coasters only, and the $15 coupon that came with it your "down payment" of sorts.  It says "Pre-Order" on the box though, so I haven't a damn clue myself.

The $5 doesnt do shit but buy you coasters. It comes with the coupon to be used on the game. That's how it works.

They are doing the same thing for Epic Mickey, except you get NOTHING. You basically pay for a $15 coupon.

framerate is all over the place with this game, drops from 60 to 30 for no reason whatsoever at the most random times

i mean, i'll literally just be standing there doing nothing and fraps shows it dropping 20 frames

this is on ultra settings, btw, which my pc chews through on FO3 at a constant 60 even during the heaviest action
