DESU SUMAIRUZU
« on: April 21, 2009, 06:48:43 PM »
Who else is buying/importing this game?  I gave into temptation after watching a trailer for the 360 version and after playing more Otomedius lately.  I dig a good horizontal shooter; not the biggest fan of Cave games but I will give this a shot.

I heard something about the 360 port being based on a new version (Black Label) of the game, or that they'll be offering the new stuff as DLC.  Any more info on this, like price and release date?

Found it.  Mega Black Label is going to be a 1400 point DLC "patch" with a new character and level.  $18 for that?

I am, but I have it with Persona PSP next week to save on shipping.  So I'll be 1 week late to the party.

It's a great game btw.  I haven't played the whole thing, but I played the first few stages in the arcades and it was lovely.

Black Labels are HUGE updates to cave games.  They are like GGXX -> GGXX Reloaded.  Cave could have just waited and sold DS Black Label for $60 again in 6 months, but their doing it as DLC for $18.  It's not a bad deal.  They said they would have included it with the retail game for free but it had just been finished for the arcade when the X360 porting was really far underway and it would've delayed the game release to go back and program it in.

Deathsmiles is an awesome game, I was lucky to get a preorder in for the LE before they closed, apparently they really underestimated demand on it.  I can imagine the LE jumping in price like the Senko LE did.  Deathsmiles 2 comes out pretty soon in the arcade, although it looks kind of...eh...I'll play it before I judge it.

Anyway, Mega Black Label adds a lot to the game, although it might not be noticeable if you don't play hardcore.  Besides the additional character and stage (which by itself is pretty major), it changes the balance of the game and adds a new difficulty level that greatly makes up for the people who thought the core game was too easy.  There are tons of smaller changes as well, it's definitely worth getting.

I'm taking it that this game is not region free nor is being released overseas. So basically I'm just going to have to pretend that this doesn't exist.

Oh, you know imma get it.  Would have rather have seen this DLC already in the game though.  I don't buy that bull-hokey about it being too late to add it in; they could have just delayed the release a bit.  :P

Likely no to both, but you never know on the latter.  Does Sony just not want 2D shooters?  These games would all be perfect for PSN.

SCEA and 2D? You know the answer to that already!   :lol

Like Enl said I'm gonna pretend this doesn't exist, I'll end up getting too depressed. I'll just stick with my 4 Cave import PS2 shooters for now-ESPGaluda, Daioujou, Mushihime-sama and Ibara... and pray some budget company picks this and Futari up for a US release.

It sounds like SCEJ turned them down, too.

Good port.  Arcade mode is really windowed like crazy to keep the aspect ratio, but 1.1 and 360 mode make better use of the full screen.  The redrawn graphics also look really nice and fit well with the game.

Otherwise, can't see anything that different from the arcade version, seems pretty authentic.  Ace game.

Otomedius also had online coop.  Hell, Ikaruga had it.

I'm really feeling 1.1 mode, at first I thought it was just a gimmick mode but after spending some time with it I'm really feeling the extra control it gives you.  You can also get some insane scores on it, heh.  It doesn't seem like MBL has a 1.1 mode in the main menu, hopefully it'll still be there tho.

Yeah, the port is really well done.  On par with the Raiden Fighters Aces port imo.

I like how it lets you select the rank for each stage.  Stage 1 is kind of boring on anything besides rank 3.  I'm enjoying 1.1 because it's so easy to get crazy high scores :)

I had a glitch where my achievements stopped registering.  I beat the game with the feather girl but my achievements stopped registering after the 2nd stage so I only got the ones for beating the first and 2nd boss.  Not the rest of the bosses or the clear achievement.  Oh well, will just do it again.

Weird.  I remember MS Japan taking US Credit Cards before.  That's how I bought DLC long long ago for like Trusty Bell or something.  But now it doesn't work.

Guess I'll need to order a Japanese 2000 point card.  :\

If you take paypal you have yourself a deal.  Also how much is the Otomedius DLC with the new stage/characters?  I probably should get enough points to get both and the 2x 80 point Raiden IV DLC ships.

I HAS CODE

The Mega Black Label patch is 523mb.  Not going to be finished downloading anytime soon and I need to go to sleep, so will play tomorrow.  Actually this will end up being my first time really playing the game at all.   :-[
