I don't like it. Sort of sounds like she's trying to update her sound and yet her original sound was timeless. Now the production sounds absolutely average. Its almost like she went home one day and jammed on her synthesizer and put that shit through Fruity Loops.

This is real good. Nice sense of progression for each track (which is what turned me off to Trance in the first place, musicians usually rely on extending a beat way too long). Definitely getting this album.

It's like a shitty fusion of the most annoying and indulgent elements of MGMT and MPP-style Animal Collective. Both groups sorta test my tolerance for puerility in vocals and style, but this is too much for me. What really sucks is when I heard the first track I was like, "Oh shit, this is all eerie and dark and awesome, this is going to be great," and then all auspiciousness proved wrong as soon as it went 1000 miles in the opposite fucking direction with Ambling Alp.

I think it'd be cool if the pursued the sound they have going on the slower, moodier stuff (The Children, Strange Reunions), but I don't like their brand of upbeat hipster pop. Even worse, the radical change in direction makes it seem like they're just trend-hopping.

I dunno. I kinda have a proclivity for capriciousness when it comes to music, so maybe I'll be gushing about it 2 weeks from now, but somehow I doubt it. Huge disappointment for me :'(

I'm listening to Red Album by Baroness.

Musically it's pretty great. People have compared this band to Mastodon and I can definitely see that. Tho it's not as aggressive as (earlier) Mastodon titles.

some excellent technical death / thrash metal. the production on the album is excellent and i'm kind of excited to see them next month. they're really good on this record, but there's some production trickery going on with regards to the guitars so i'm curious how they replicate some of this live.
