Yahoo.com has stopped accepting new Geocities accounts and will be closing Geocities this summer. It's the end of an era. An era of embedded midi files and shitty animated gif files. :'(

It's starting to feel like the Internet is coming up to another early 2000's-like choke point. As in, a lot of big sites are going to be closed, some things will get scaled back, and a only few of the major sites make it through intact.
