Fuuuuucccckkk, now I'm actually considering one of those monitors. Thanks a lot Patel.

confession:

comic cbrs are part of the reason i bought a netbook

How can you read them on that small screen, do you zoom in? I hate zooming in.

the screen was 8.9 inches wide, which is actually a little wider than a regular comic book

when i buy my next netbook (ION) it should have a 10" screen, which would be just about perfect to hold open like a book and read the whole page at once instead of scrolling

when i scanned some of my golden age comics i always set the width to 1280

i have a box full of GA microfiche, too, but I don't know how to go about getting any of that transferred to digital

film/microfiche scanner should do the trick.

Ah, you rotate it and read it on it's side? I'm so simple, that never occurred to me.

i tried the one at the college library but was unsatisfied with the results, plus it took forEVER to do a few pages

there are some guys from the comics newsgroups who scanned in theirs, and while they are readable it is just barely, and they're really only for plugging holes in stuff that hasn't been paper-scanned yet (apparently 98% of the comics DC published have been scanned)

wasn't microfiche always a pain to read regardless?  I seem to recall that from my having to use it back in the 80s

yeah, fairly blurry

i sold my valiant comics collection back when they were worth crazy amounts of money on the speculator market, and used the money to buy various sets of golden age on microfiche

someone posted a GREAT program for them which with a little fiddling is the beast.  one sec let me see if i can find it

edit: can't find it in search.  will look when i get home
that was me and i found even a better one now:

http://eng.kipple.pe.kr/win/honeyview3/

much more simple (right click on rar/zip and view with honeyview, no need to change file extensions to cbr/cbz), fast (turn off preview feature in options) and supports 32/64bit.

Here's another vote for CReader. I'm going to scope out FFView again, but CReader is basically love-for-comics manifested in exe form. So simple, and it does everything you could want. Most of the Mac ones don't do it as well, and they want money for them. :meh

more spells, more paths, more class features, new feats, familiars, epic destinies, rules for tomes, new rituals, arcane backgrounds.

i'm going to start an rpga bard so i wanted to get this book for that.

good review for the book here which pushed me over the edge into buying it
